lots of 1.8 (110hp stock) FWD 5 speed imprezas out there from 96 and earlier. 24-2500 lbs. no worse weight distro than the other cars of the time. vented fronts (but drums in back eww)

has anyone tried to classify these things for B? if so what happened?

(also i just realized that this shoudl be in the technical regulations area and i cant find a way to erase it or move it....sorry.)

hmmm. im not sure if that would be a B car or A car. I know my Honda (ITA) was 106hp stock, with rear drum brakes. with a 2250lb weight. you are heavier though by a couple hundred pounds. I would think it would be an A car with the hp, but the heavy weight might put it back to B.

thats a tough call. im not sure what class that would fall under.

that's the thing. it's not classed in anything. A,B,C,S,R......not a single subaru anywhere in the IT section of the GCR. strange....i know looking at what's in A and B i would think that this would be in B as the 2003 mini is in B with i think 2500 lbs and 115hp stock and massive discs all around, and the integra LS's and RS;s are in ITA with 140hp stock and 2600 lbs race weight. so i would think it woulb fit nice in B at 2300 or something perhaps. i dunno, it could be interesting. its just amazing not a single fwd example is classed.

ill try searching it , but whats the process and what document materials are needed to get classing for a specific model?

Is there an FWD version or all they all AWD? There's a prohibition in the GCR against AWD in any category other than SS and T.

thanks for the reply knestis,

the Impreza was standard FWD with an AWD option from its introduction of 1993 until the final optional year of 1996. after 1996, all subarus were AWD. this means any impreza from m1996 and earlier is eligible. much like the Audi that RST perf. ran for a while....fwd, (but you could opt for the illegal AWD version.)
the more and more i look at this car the more intrigued i get about it.

Don't forget the Legacy. The station wagon seems more common, but there are FWD sedans available.

Put together a proposal and send it to [email protected] - include PDFs or links to show which cars are eligible and their specs, including stock power and toque, the info you see in the ITCS, etc.

Yes, and I think that was his point. There are lots of (banned) wagons, but there are also a few sedans around which could be classed.

Wagons are no longer excluded, at that stock hp level assuming 25% increase in IT prep its for sure an ITB car.

Not many FWD Subaru models were made - and those that were were not exactly 'enthusiast' cars so none have been requested. Most common car is the 2.5 RS but that is AWD and excuded.

I test drove one of those FWD Subarus in the early Nineties.

Completely unremarkable car; it could even run in C with weight.
