It is almost done and ready for its first race next weekend. This has been a very difficult car to build. I am glad it is almost over.

I didn't think of it until i looked at the broadside picture, but stiffening that door bay is a huge issue on that chassis, huh? A guy could cut a 914 in half with a scroll saw across the floor pan in about 2 minutes.

GOOD JOB, Blake. This is going to be a neat addition to the class.

At Roebling Road next weekend.

There is very little flex in the chassis now that is for sure.

Anyone else think there should be a big neon-orange SKULL on the hood of this thing? LOVE IT!

We will see I have another exhaust ready for it if it doesn't.

Awesome Blake! ITB guys, don't be shocked if this thing is running near lap record times right out of the box. It's a top notch build by a shap guy who knows his IT stuff.

Blake I know everyone is telling yuo how to paint it, so why should I be any different?

I would love to see orange numbers, but with gloss black shadows. love the low gloss black with the black wheel centers. menacing~

If I make it this weekend it won't be on those wheels. One of the one off lug bolts just broke. Now I am trying to find something that will work which is not going to well.

GO PORSCHE! That cage is awesome. The 914 was a flexi flyer but those monster gussets will sure help.

Willing to share what that project cost?

Not being aware of the particular issues with the 914 I wondered about all the gusseted structure, but now I know.

You should build bridges.

it helps that the 914 is VERY light, so extra tubes and gussets are an easy call. And Blake has got great welding skillz.....

If you're stuck with ball end lug bolts, look at stock Mercedes parts. They come in a range of lengths.

Did all the work myself. Cage, trans rebuild, engine, header. I have not added it up but I would say just either side of 10K.

The wheels are 1980's vintage Jongbloed's. They use an 1.5" long shank nut. I found some but have to go through one of there dealers. We will see how that goes tomorrow.

Try Napa they have a good variety of lugs or a tire store

Thanks for the cost estimate. I dreadfully estimate about $20K on the ITR 968 - we'll see when it's finished. Was hoping to hold it to about $12K and then figured I'd have a street car with a roll cage. At least this build leaves little on the table - only think left would be a Milledge engine.

It went very well. Left with a 2nd and 3rd. And only small items to fix.
