My engine, 91 Mazada BP 1.8l from a Ford Escort GT, exploded rather spectacularly during the last Test and Tune session on Thur at NHMS. Anyone with info on this engine as far as good parts suppliers would be greatly appreciated.

Hey Dan, don't know anything about your engine, but your sister made us proud with her progress on Fri. and Sat,:happy204:

Well thanks, she is a competitive person and always has a need to do well. I am proud of her also.

Dan,

This is the same engine that is in my Miata. If you are interested in a built IT version, I can hook you up with my engine builder.

Apparently I had quite the blow torch effect coming out the rear of the car. My rear tow strap is melted as well as some slightly singed wiring.

I've never seen flames shoot out underneith a car like that. You certainly don't do things half assed!!

Hey if you are going to do something you should strive to do it well!!!! BTW Denise was amazed at the performance of her car when she used that set of tires she got from you. I hope this set of Toyo 888's I have work as well. She dropped 7 secs off her previous lap times.

Nice hole.

Looks like the same damage I suffered at the downhill at LRP in August.

I have what is left of the connecting rod here on my desk, autographed of course.

Took the engine (parts) to Heads Up, the local engine rebuild shop. He said it looks like I lost the bearing on #4 connecting rod. Piston slapped around for a short time then broke into 2 pieces. Head is OK and will be rebuilt.
