How about an update on Palmer?

After racing at NJMSP last weekend, I'm looking forward a similarly fun drivers track a little closer to home than 7 hours, FUN track, great facility, just no good way to get there from Western Massachusetts.

What's up Dick?

Good question. Be real nice to have another world class facility in the neighborhood.

How did you come down to NJMP from Greenfield, Mass?

91, 84, 87, 287, NJTPK etc.

Home--NJTPK, GW, cross Bronx, 95, 91

7.5 hrs down, 6.5 hrs home.

I'll do it again and bring Steph and at least another car---FUN!!

Still looking for Dick? Any news on Palmer?

NYS Thruway 87 / 287 at NY/NJ border (Suffern / Mahwah)
287 S to Somerville / Bridgewater
202 S to Flemington
31 S to Pennington
295 S to the mess by Camden and then onto NJMP
no tolls in NJ this way

Stay away from the Turnpike and GW

Ed, sorry I missed this thread yesterday. It is all good.
At the NER BOD’s direction we are working with a core investor to finish this project. The design has been refined to increase runoff areas and meet higher safety levels. We are currently in the process of getting these alterations approved. Most of the engineering work required is based on the new stricter stormwater runoff standards.
While my ability to predict timelines has been less than perfect I believe we will start construction in the spring.

Thanks to NER for all the hard work and having the balls to take the big step and financial gamble. dave

Cool! Thanks Dick, and everyone on the committee, can't wait. I'll have to keep a C car so that Jinx and I can can go racing on opening day:)

Twenty Ten update time.
What say you Dick? Any idea on the future of the track?

2009 was a challenging year. The financial climate slowed things to a crawl. Final engineering has in the last 90 days finally picked up. NER is financially sound. Current deal requires closing by 6/30/2010. Full report at NER Annual Meeting 1/23.

Hmmm. Can that closing deal be changed? Do you see that as a likely possibility?

I suppose so but I hope this is the final deal. Looks pretty good right now.
