Lael, why are you building a 1.7 for H Production? That stroke is WAY too long to get any rev's in it. I know, I still have an "H" block 1.7 sitting on the engine stand in the garage. IT prepped bottom end, stock bore, stock pistons. Would make a GREAT 1.6 bottom end.

Anybody need it?

My old G prod GTI 1.8 is now a legal HP car, so I'm all set.

Lael,
Tim is correct. You really ought to build a 1.6L instead. The 1.7 is NOT the motor to use. (pretty much, ever, if you can help it.....at least that's what they tell me)

Leslie, How is chris doin? I am sorry to hear about topeka... I have an 87 golf shell I will trade for a 1.6 crank:D....JK you can have the shell, let me know if i can do anything.

now the 1.7-1.6 thing is i Have 3-4 EN motors but no 1.6s.... I havent seen a 1.6 in years..

So I will make a new post

thanks Tim and Leslie

Contact Dick Shine

I saw a few 1.6s in his shop TODAY. I dont know if they have an intended buyer or not, but if you need one its worth a shot.....

I may have a 1.6 crank for you. If you are interested I can have a look for it. It would be great to see another Scirocco on the track.

Joe the build picts of your car makes me drool.....we are kind of comitted to a 1.7L at this point, our engine guy went nuts and board/ honed the block and instaled pistons.....and we said we arnt paying the bill till april.

I like the 1775lbs with a 1.6 thing. 1990lbs w/1.7......

Lael,

Send a letter to the CRB, probably no one has run a 1.7 before and asked for an adjustment to the weight. Thanks for your kind comments.

Lael, while I don't propose cheating, there are no external physical differences between a 1.6 and 1.7.
