Last race out I finally got some tire temps - first in a while.

Car: ITB Scirocco

Tires: Kumho V710 - 205/55 -14

Toe 1/8" out

Drivers side camber: 3 1/8
Pass side camber: 2 1/8

Cold pressure: 25 lbs
Hot pressure: DS: 35.5, PS: 33

Temps: taken in pit lane after qualification session Ambient temp: 75 degrees

Drivers: outside: 171 middle: 174 inside: 173
Pass: outside: 138 middle: 173 inside: 184

It seems to me I have to back off the camber.. down to 1 3/4 possibly. I am missing anything? thanks

There has been a thread on this before, but bottom line is Kumho does not want you running over 1.5 negative camber. The V710 is designed to roll over on its corner for best performance. The thread that was on here before the person had the tire blistering really bad after just a couple of runs and he went to Kumho and they gave him a new set of tires but told him to back the camber down and his problem was cured.

I tried 25 psi for the first time at the IT fest...

The rear left rolled over all right....
And deflated!...Causing a spin at T7

More confusing than exciting really.
25 might be a bit low...YRMV

I have used these camber settings for a couple years without issue. The tires roll over on the shoulder on the drivers side but not as much on the passenger side so I think I will take some camber out. I will watch the tread surface but I have not had those issues using many sets. thanks

I had a similar situation, high temps inside so I added a little camber (removed negative camber if you will). Next time out my tires wore excessively on the outside! It's a fine line, as I have had tires wear the insides first too. Make small adjustments.

which direction were the last two turns before hitting the pits, and were you at race speed on that last lap?

from the temps i am guessing last turn was a right hander. this would cause the right side tires to be unloaded. inside edge may have been only part of tire on pavement, resulting in high inside edge temps.

the only really accurate temps taken in the pits are going to be the temps for the tires on the outside of last turn.

You are right, the last 3 turns were right hand turns and I stopped in the pits quickly for the temps.. he did the drivers front then the pass front.

then it looks like your drivers side camber is right on, and you may be .5 lbs too high on the tire pressure (center temp higher, but only a tidbit).

right side camber may be a bit too low. i would get it closer to what your left side is.

of course, i am a rwd itr bmw guy, ymmv...:)
