Cost for one Ford Fiesta parts car done in by a tree: -$125
Money made from selling miscellaneous parts I don't need: +$50
Money made from selling the shell to the scrapyard: +$102
Making enough money to pay for my gas and netting a complete engine
and gearbox, suspension, brakes, and various body panels: Priceless :D

The best part is, I get to do it all over again because the seller had two!

This is the upside of the "vintage" IT car problem. When you CAN find them, you can sometimes score a huge bargain. Try that with a New Beetle. :)

Now that's my kind of story. :happy204:

Greg:

I just picked up a LPHP Fiesta (an ex IT-car) with a TON of spares. 2 spare motors, 2 blocks, 4 cranks, 4 gearboxes, etc., etc., you name it. Boxes and boxes of stuff. So much I had to leave some of it behind (to pick up later this year), and drew the line after one complete set of sheetmetal (LH and RH doors, LH and RH front fenders, rear hatch). The rest I told the seller to scrap.

If you need anything to complete the build, just let me know. As an example, I've also got 2 sets of wheels I would like to get rid of.

Who/Where are you guys with these Fiesta's and all these spare parts?
I have two Fiesta's, which I barely have enough parts for.
Looking for a spare spindle, brake drum, clutch tensioner(?), fenders and a head.

I'm also tired of my original oil filler caps and want to see what everyone else is doing.

Hey Rick,
Thanks for the info and I think I have everything I need to get it completed. The car was a seldom used IT/track car and it sat outside for a number of years. The rust holes allowed what appeared to be a colony of mice to take up residence in the headliner. It's amazing how much better the car smelled after I evicted the tenants. :D

I think I'm good on wheels right now. It came with 6 Escort steel wheels and I have since purchased a set of Enkeis, two sets of no name BBS style wheels, and two NOS factory '82 Escort alloys which are the lightest wheels in the bunch. I'd love to find two more.

Florida,
I'd be happy to send you some of the stuff you need. While Fiestas are few and far between, there's a guy here in KC that has two cars, one daily driver and one parts car and he won't sell them to me unless I pay him stupid money for them.

Florida:

Let me know what Greg is not able to send you. Recognize that I am a Fiesta "newbie" (though I did have a street car back in 1980, and have run Kent motors in FF for a few years), but I believe I've got a spare spindle (or two). Definitely have the brake drums (I'll have to find a useable one for you). Not sure I know what a clutch tensioner looks like.

Anyway, I'm off to the storage garage where all this stuff is to put in some temporary shelves to make some more room. I'll see what I've got.

I checked with the seller of my Fiesta and he does still have the fenders. Some rust as they are off a MI car, but may be useable. He is up in MI (Detroit area). If you want them, let me know and I'll have him set them aside -- they are otherwise going to be scrapped.

He also recommended contacting BAT to see if they had new ones for you.

BAT doesn't seem to be able to get them - - A guy (Leone's) up in CT has a set but I rather save them from a place that plans on trashing them.

What do you think the cost is including shipping to Florida?

Florida:

I'll try to get a picture or two and a shipping estimate. Fenders would be free...

Can you email me your email address?

I can probably help with all of it.
