ITS Harding takes overall just ahead of Maynard in ITR... Jeremy just barely wins his race holding off Beran Peter by a car length... Jeremy was just trying to beat the ITB cars right??? LOL anyway congrats also goes to Beran for another solid ITB win!!!

Jake, was there a monsoon during the IT7 race we didn't hear about? :)

No, but I brought the rains anyway, Dave! The 'Kooks seem good...I did a 2hot lap qualifying session, and T&S must of screwed up, ;) and gave me a 1:17.1. The race was great fun, I got to lay a bumper on Joe at about lap 11, or so (hee hee!) and raced with a SSB guy for awhile. The car ran pretty well, and made it to the flag! (And for those who say the cars a solid "A" car, let me remind you the front of A was nearly 2 seconds away(From my one freakish lap), which ends up roughly proportional to the gap I see from IT7 to ITA at Road Atlanta.)

Correction, Joe only broke after running out of talent in six, sliding into the soft barrier and THEN breaking!!!

Pole to checker, best win so far!!!

I'm wicked envious - and wish I was up there! What a great weekend (weather) and race format! The "putting the car back together" is progressing, and I should be back for the Pig Roast. But in the meantime, and I know that everyone is busy, but could someone post results for ITB? If Beran got first, what did the rest of the field look like?

thanks,

Tim M

Yeah not competitive in ITA that lap wasn't a fluke you were sand baggin and just warming up your tires. :D

ROUND 2:

ITA: #99 Brandscombe wins an excellent race!!!
ITC: #32 Megliola takes ITC
IT7: #57 continues to prove these cars are fast and is 2 for 2... Almoast time for a new Helmet!

ITS: #04 Harding takes the overall!!!
ITR: Maynard again with a solid class win...
ITB: #0 Beram Peter takes a big lead over Nat & Rick & also proves that Jermy can't beat the ITB field just yet

lateapex911

Joe, Joe, Joe, remember the first rule of racing: talent = tires, and tires = talent...
;)

As for ITB, I think Nat Wentworth was in a solid second until he spun on Sat afternoon, and he looked closer Sunday afternoon, about 2 seconds back from Beran at mid race. Need to get those UPS truck sounding German monsters out for a reality check, right Blethens!?

How did Jeremy's car do in B Prepared? (or the Boy Scouts class or wherever tGA ran it?)

Jeremy Billiel
05-26-2008, 08:45 AM
Wow what a long, bt VERY fun weekend. I made huge improvements and I am happy with the results since I had not been in the car in a year. Beran did beat me Sunday morning, but I had no one behind me and I just followed him and learned his line.

On Sunday was having a really good race mid pack ITS in fact and well in front of Beran before I ran out of talent in turn 3 and badly flatspotted my tires. I had never done that before and man the cars handling went right out the door and it sounded like the car was going to fall apart! I will write up more as I get more sleep.

Greg finished 2nd in DP and got another second off of the car. Although we still have a long way to go we are taking chunks of time off.

Congrats, Jake. Glad to hear you've gotten back out.
How many cars were in the ITR field? Dick, did you make it out?
I enjoyed pushing a tandem stroller this weekend. Almost as fast as my RX7, and considerably more dependable.

I felt bad about that Beran, but you had no one behind you and even as I let you by I was just going to catch you on the straights. Good clean fun though....

Later in the weekend I gained enough more time so I no longer was a issue for you!

Thanks for posting that was a fun video to watch myself from behind. Its amazing how much faster I was before my tires starting going away

Jeremy - no worries - I had fun with you. Like you said there was no one on my bumper so it was not a big deal. I was watching my rear view making sure no one was catching me. I was a little worried that I was distracting you from getting good laps but when you gave me the point by in three I thought ....sure lets swap spots for a coner :-)

Coming back was not exactly like getting back on a bicycle after not doing it for a while. It was downright flocking scary. When Jeff L. and Joe D. went by me during one of the Fri practice sessions, is when I realized how slow I was at the time. By Sat afternoon things got much better with the help of a new set of tires. Congrats to Jeff L for sat win and Jeff B fo a Sun sweep. See y'all soon.

Thanks for getting this photo Doug. As Rob B. knows, this moment was fleeting! DOH!

This was a well needed weekend for our team. No crashes, no car issues, and lots of great close racing. I have not raced as hard as I did on Saturday afternoon in many years. Rob B, Bob, and Jake kept me busy looking behind me and in front of me. The battle continued into Sunday too!

The weekend ended with a great PDX event. Thankfully a friend of mine took the class and let me drive his Porsche Twin Turbo. Quite different than the CRX.

Hey! How come I'm not in that picture!??!?!

Kudos to the guys I seemed to be magnetically attached to all weekend, like Mr Demers in the Solstice and Dr Bro and Anthony. (And a Joe too, at times). Lot's of close and (mostly ;) ) clean racing. Considering that we had a 3 class freight train going, we played well, I think.

Special thanks you all for letting a class interloper play, and especially to Dr. Bro for letting me rub some front bumper Mazda paint onto his ritzy BMW, (sorry if i annoyed you Dr Bro, I'll send the video showing the other times I lifted to avoid getting into you mid corner...;) ) and to Joe for not getting squirrelly when I punted him up the hill out of 3. (Of course, after watching him get worked over in 12, I knew a little bump wouldn't upset him... ;) )

Super fun weekend for me, now it's off to the dyno to find a few more ponies. (And to the shop to install some other tricks, devilish laugh)

This was a great weekend (and I was only in NH on Sunday!).
I got to remember/realize what an excellent station Seven is for blue flagging, and got to play with the yellow a little bit (though not for anything too serious).
It was fun watching Jeff and Joe trying to break into the Integra Brigade and to see a healthy RX7 field.
I was saddened when the Celica cooked itself... I may end up building one in a few years.
Andy (And Hugh/Nick), congrats on the finish in the ST race and on getting the car up to the regional for another run!

I've said this a million times, but this ITA group is a great group. I really enjoy running with everyone. Lots of respect, people with good heads on their shoulder, all out to have fun without hitting anyone (well, almost :))

The "It's just sitting in the driveway doing nothing" line has cost lots of people lots of time and money. Sell it as a street car and buy a built racecar..you know the drill! You'll be racing a YEAR sooner, and have THOUSANDs more compared to building.

Yeah man! Thanks for the bump up the hill coming out of T6. That helped quite a bit:p. I gotta say, Very little to no carnage amongst all the race groups throughout the weekend. Very commendable :happy204:. My only damage was a fender wrinkle caused by a trailer that was leaving. Just clipped the front left fender. Was an easy fix with a jack handle then it was off to race 3. Great videos from all.

The "It's just sitting in the driveway doing nothing" line has cost lots of people lots of time and money. Sell it as a street car and buy a built racecar..you know the drill! You'll be racing a YEAR sooner, and have THOUSANDs more compared to building.

Thanks for the input; either way it'll be quite a way off...

Nope - love for Miata's! HAHAHAHA!

A great format, great weather and all (most) of the usual suspects led to some great racing. So many things to say about T3 though............ :)

That's what I found myself saying! But, I've got a GT (not an SC ) sitting in my family's driveway atm and it's not doing a whole lot...

You would crap yourself if you knew how little I paid for the Saturn........... I could have sold half the tires and wheels that came with it and paid for the thing..........

But then again, maybe it's becasue most people aren't dumb enough to try and race a Saturn!!!

And its less Ghey than a Miata (excluding full prepped ITA versions from the Ghey category) and the motor doesn't blow up every single time you drive it. Seems like the Saturn has 1 up on my adventures!

Wasn't whining, just stating fact. If you were sitting down and trying to decide what would be the best car to buy/build for ITA, I don't think Saturn would be in the top ten!! Right?? Anyways, it's all about the driver, right?? :p

AND, I actually did use it to traansport our groceries to the track!!! :D

What Jake and crew have said. It got so bad for me I ended up buying another racecar with a friend so I could actually do a few events while finishing building my car. It always takes a lot longer than expected and I ran into several obstacles that without the help of Grant (the blue RX7) and a few others, it would still be sitting in my yard.

Hmmm, want an ex-SSC Neon (SOCH) now in ITA for really cheap, meaning something like $2,500? It needs a passenger side door bar and some new paint. I really need to just put that darn thing up for sale.

I guess I'm not too bright that way, LOL. Seriously, I MUST have been within 5 feet but out of the frame in that shot, LOL. here's another angle...or two...

For much of that Saturday race I had thought my car just had an RX7 hood in the trunk. Great close racing all around. :happy204:
