Does anyone have a suggested alignment setup up for a FWD Ford Escort GT. I know this is subjective but I just had to replace the Rack and Pinion gear and need a place to start. Camber will be at -2.5 but what about Toe. Toe 0 good straight line speed, Toe -0 better cornering, less straight line speed. I would assume that cornering ability would be a better thing to have. New at the game and would appreciate some wisdom. Do you change the rear alignment to match front???

I know nothing about Ford Escorts, other than I drove one in 1986 as a parts delivery vehicle. But I would think that on the front you would want -2.0 to -2.5 camber, and a sixteenth to an eighth inch toe out. Is caster adjustable on this car? That could be important on some tracks. I am also sure that personal driving style will come into play as far as what alignment settings work too.
As far as the rear, is it adjustable?

I am sure that Joeg will throw in on this with all the right answers since he is an Escort pilot.

cheers

Thanks for the help. The rear is adjustable with the rear lateral links and I have camber bolts that will allow up to -1.75.

I checked with a friend who has a 'Scort GT track car (and works at the house of the blue oval), he mentioned OK, YMMV, spring setups will impact, etc, but he runs the numbers you're talking about, slight toe-out in the front.

HTH...

Sounds like a Mazda-Scort rather than a proper Escort.

In any event, toe-out 3/32nds toal in the front. As much Camber as you can get; leave the stock caster setting alone.

In the rear, slight toe-in ...very slight.
