to move to Hollywood and take up acting! It's clear that acting makes better race car drivers, so screw the wife and kids, I'm moving to California to start my racing career!

Oh it must be great to be so young, conceited and ignorant!

Muniz: "No Actor Can Race Like I Can"
1 February 2008 (WENN) (http://www.imdb.com/news/wenn/2008-02-01#celeb7)
Actor-turned-racing driver Frankie Muniz (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0005260/) is in no doubt about his talents behind the wheel - insisting no other celebrity can race cars as well as he can. The former Malcolm In The Middle (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0212671/) star walked away from a successful TV and movie career three years ago to follow his driving dreams full-time. And Muniz is more than confident he made the right decision. He says, "I don't want to sound conceited, but I don't think there has been an actor or celebrity-turned-racecar driver that has made it as high up on the racecar circuit as I have. So I don't think there's anyone who can keep up with me. And that's just me being honest." And Muniz's new car confidence has given him a speedy new ambition: "I want to race Michael Schumacher, seven-time (Formula One) world champion."

No actors has ever been as successfull as him eh? Umm didn't Steve McQueen race at Lemans? Paul Newman has to have owned this kid, how about James Dean? Then to put the icing on the Ignorance cake "I want to race Schumi." Hmm lets see last time I looked Schumi was retired and wasn't showing any signs of a come back in anything.....

Has this kid raced for anyone or tested for anyone yet???? Patrick Dempsey raced at 24hrs of Daytona already....and won (I think)

He had some decent outings in the MX-5 Cup, renting rides from the series champions.

I think I saw him in a GA touring car at Miller, he was all over the track and dirt...

In truth, you can never trust a word from an actor's mouth.... they act 24 hours a day in many cases.......... you can often see through a bad actor... as Frankie demonstrates.

Renting rides for $10k a weekend yes, decent outings would be 25th/30 at his '07 appearance and that was with the winning team. Dempsey took 10th in that race.

"...insisting no other celebrity can race cars as well as he can."

Like saying you're the fastest left-handed dentist on the block.

That's nothin'. No other short, brown-haired, brown-eyed, right-handed, formerly allergic, guy with my passport drives a race car as well as I can.

Here lies the truth behind the aspiring lad's alleged track prowess....

Chris, your same thread has two pages on the RX-7 club site with only 10 posts on this site. Does that mean the folks on the RX-7 club site are slightly larger BS er's than the folks on this site.

Dave,

I think the guys over on the RX7 site have more time on their hands! (or so it seems...)

Correct. He rented a ride from the championship winning team, and surprise surprise, had a pretty decent car, having the 3rd fastest lap in the race. However, being inexperienced, he finished a lap down, after a big off.

Two points. 1. You need a fast car to be fast. 2. You need to be good to stay fast.

Who knows, maybe the guy is serious about this, and will spend the time to become truely fast. I think that would be cool. However, it would be great if he could get a better perspective on the sport before his next interview on the subject.

I have respect for anyone who has the same passion for racing that I do. If I were in his shoes I would do the same thing (career move to racing).

As for the comments, chalk it up to youth.

You guys obviously didn't watch the last race at Miller where he was fighting for 2nd place. He went off after attempting an ill-advised move, finished 7th I think.

I don't see him different than any of the big egomaniacs in racing...kids that come out of karting, etc.
