Apparently I offended someone with my original post. I simply asked if anyone had any used safety gear lying around that they no longer used that they would like to sell or donate to a fellow racer that had a unexpected misfortune in his life. I am sorry.

I'm not sure why anyone would be offended??? Maybe I'm missing something??

I immediately thought of the stuff I have laying around but it looks like I'm slightly different proportions than your brother.

PM me as to why people took offense.......

I read your post & wouldn't have a clue why anyone would have been offended.

Was not offended here, surprised when you edited it. The post was a little personal but not offensive. Sorry not much extras at the moment but I did find a new black nomex baclava if that is needed, it's yours if you can use it.

I really pity anyone who could have been offended by that post.

I want to thank all of you for the support. Here is the email that I received. I wasn't trying to offend or piss anyone off. I don't have an extra $1000 lying around to buy him some gear as this guy suggests, if I did I would. I am still trying to get my gear together. I am not asking for anything for myself. I was just trying to help my brother out. I was hoping that some people had some extra gear lying around and maybe they wouldn't mind helping my brother out. I deleted the name from the end of the letter because I'm not here to drag people through the mud. And I deleted the original post because I don't need to deal with jerks like this! I didn't respond to the email because in my book it doesn't deserve a response. I just don't treat people this way, and I am proud to be a teacher and my brother is too!

Here is the email:
"Aaron,

Congrats on getting a car.

Sorry to hear about your brother's plight but I'm glad to hear that everyone is going to be OK.

I see by your e-mail address that you are associated with the public education system. Socialism and an entitlement attitude are at the root of the public-fleecing-in-the-name-of-education establishment. This explains the ease with which you beg others to pay for your family's entertainment. Food, clothing and shelter are basic needs. Racing is a luxury. And few of us can afford to do it at the level and frequency we would like.

Loan the money for the equipment to your brother for this season if it's that important to you. GForce has some of the least expensive driving suits. Shop for discontinued closeouts at SafeRacer.com for shoes, gloves, helmets etc. A full set of gear will be about $1000 if you are frugal. $1500+ if you are fashion conscious.

Your post on IT.com had over 100 views but no public replies.

I support competition and vouchers for education, not the current delivery system that we have through the states.

Good Luck"

By the way, my niece is doing well. They took the I.V. out yesterday. She is still in an incubator and will still be in nicu for at least another week. My sister in law got released yesterday and of course she is really sore from the emergency c-section. Please keep them in your prayers.

I want to give a huge THANK YOU to Mark Buskehl! He is donating his extra baclava to my brother. :happy204: I really appreciate the help and I know my brother will too. Like I told Mark my brother doesn't know that I am doing this so it will be a huge surprise for him.

Thank You,
Aaron

Most importantly, I'm glad everyone is doing well.

This is a bit of a touchy subject. I agree the e-mail is a bit much, but can see how someone could view it a bit differently as this is just a hobby / entertainment. That said, if someone had gear lying around not being used I don't see anything wrong with it. It's probably tough for anyone to make a different financial donation for racing goodies though.

I am the first to agree that this is not a life or death situation. I agree racing is a hobby/entertainment. I was not requesting monetary donations. I was simply asking if anyone had any old safety gear lying around that they didn't use any more, and if they did I asked if they would like to sell it or donate it to my brother. Some people including myself like to help out others and don't mind donating something they no longer use. Nothing was said about donating money. I am just trying to help get him out on the track. If you don't have anything you want to sell or donate that's fine. If you would rather sell it on ebay, that's fine too. Some people read way too much into things, and blow them out of proportion.

Folks, as far as I'm concerned this thread looking for non-used race wear that's laying around is no different than ONE OF US looking for free-b non-used car parts laying around. At one point or another WE ALL give some car parts to another.:023:

I have a driving/fire suite that is almost new you can have if you pay for the shipping. I bought it a couple of years ago, but I out grew it. It is a large and I believe it is a 3.2/5 rated. I will have to check on the rating.

If you are interested let me know,
Mike

Aaron,

I never did get to read the original post, but would gladly help out if I can. I may have a driver's suit and pair of Simpson HiTop racing shoes that would work. You can PM me or email to cwire*at*therecoveryroom*dot*com with the sizes needed, and I'll see what I can do.

What size shoes are needed? I think I may have a pair that I can donate towards the cause. I have not been logging on as much recently as in the past, so please be patient with a response. PM me with the size, if you would.

Just a quick update. My neice got to come home! :026:She is gaining some weight and seems to be doing well. My sister in law is also healing but still very sore. I have recieved the barclava from Mark and the gloves from Bill. Thanks guys!!! My brother was so excited when I gave them to him. He can't believe the generosity. I hope I can come up with a driving suit and shoes, which I am working on with a couple of other members here, and a helmet. I am trying to keep everything posted here because I don't want any duplicates, that is definately not the point of this. Thanks again to everyone and please continue to keep my neice in your prayers.

Another big thanks to Mike (m glassburner) he is sending a pair of nomex socks for my brother. And a Huge thank you to Mike (m33mcg) who is sending a fire suit!! I can't thank all of you enough. I hope we see you guys at the track sometime. The only thing my brother is lacking at this point is a helmet (XL) and a pair of shoes (9 1/2). If anyone has any leads on these items let me know. Thanks again, what a great group of guys. I am proud to be part of the Improved Touring group!

OK Aaron, I think I may have what your brother needs. I am a bit of a helmet collector (much to my wife's dismay). I have a G-Force Hybrid that is SA2000 approved. I'll check the size when I get home, but it MIGHT be an XXL. I have a bucket for a head and generally wear a 7 3/4. My only condition to offering it (if your bro wants it) is for the "Discovery Parts" decals remain on it. The owner has always done my brother and I right and has even cost himself money to save us money, so I think he deserves the free ad. Let me know at ScottF *at* NutDriver *dot* org.

I got the socks from Mike (mglassburner) Thanks Mike!!! Scott is sending my brother one of his older helmets, awesome!!! Thanks Scott! And I think Mike (m33mcg) is going to send a driving suit, Mike I sent you and email just waiting to hear from you. Thanks again to everyone that has helped out my brother, he and I both appreciate all the generous help and donations! My niece is doing well, she is gaining some weight. Mom is doing well, but isn't getting a lot of sleep. The baby has to be fed every 3 hours 24/7 because she was a preemie. Thanks to everyone that is praying for them.

Hey guy's!
Here is another update. My neice is doing very well she is over 7 lbs. now and my sister in law was able to go back to work last week! So both are doing very good. And yes my neice is cute, not that I am partial or anything.

My brother is still in need of a driving suit, I guess that Mike changed his mind I haven't heard from him in some time. I did send Chris an email about his suit so I will let you know. It will depend on the sizing. We are going to try and make an event at the end of April.

I want to thank everyone again for all the support and donations to my brother we both appreciate the help. I plan on posting a picture of him in all the gear soon, just trying to find a fire suit.

Thanks Again!

Aaron, sorry for the delay, I haven't checked my email at home in a while. I'll do so as soon as possible.

I am 6' tall and 210 lbs with a fairly average build (34 waist). Hopefully this may help you decide if this suit will work or not. A friend borrowed it a while back and it is sitting in his closet, so I've got a call into him to get it back. Probably Thursday night.

Let me know if you think the sizing will work. I think the suit is a large.

arpenn
04-02-2008, 12:13 AM
Chris what brand/model is the suit, so I can look up the size chart. The only thing I am concerned about is the waist, I think my brother is a little bigger than a 34, but most large suits according to the size charts should fit him. Send me a email or PM. Thanks!

Chris Wire
04-02-2008, 03:57 PM
The suit is made by Bell/Nasa, it's called a ProEuro or something like that. I bought it about 10 years ago, but never raced more than 5 weekends in any one year. In 2002 I bought a new Sparco and haven't worn the other one since. A friend borrowed it about a year ago and wore it once and he still has it. I'm getting it back tomorrow evening. I'll contact you for further details when I've got it in hand.

John (JCmotorsports) donated a pair of shoes. They are in the mail. Thank You John!! Chris is working on a driving suit for my brother. I think with these two items and everything else that you guy's have so generously donated he has all the safety gear required to race! :026: We really can't thank you guy's enough. We are planning our first HSDE with the race car April 26 & 27 so we can get a feel for the car. We will be running at Hallett Motor Raceway just west of Tulsa, OK. I will try to post some pictures soon.

Thanks again to everyone that has helped out with donations, you guy's are the best!:smilie_pokal:

Just wanted to give everyone a little update. My brother Brandon and I have gotten the chance to go to the track a few times this year with the help from you guy's! Hallett Motor Racing Circuit in Oklahoma is the closest to us. The first time at the track was at the end of April. We just ran in High Speed Touring (No Racing just track time) to get a feel for the car. We went and competed in the COMMA Series, which is the local organization that only runs at Hallett. Brandon has gotten track time on Saturday the two other times we have gone to the track. He will be racing Oct. 26 which is the final race of the season at Hallett. I ran the race on Sunday at the end of May and finished 2nd in class, then I raced at the end of Sept. and finished 1st in class. Not too bad for my first two races. Granted there were only 6-8 cars in the class but we still had a blast! Thanks again to you guy's that donated the safety gear to my brother, it fits great and he is having a blast. I know he can't wait until the end of the month. By the way Scott, I liked the G-Force helmet you sent my brother so much that I ended up buying one just like it for myself on closeout. We are pretty close on lap times so it has become a little competition to see who is the fastest, so far I have come out on top! But not by much he is catching me quick. Here are a couple of pictures of Brandon on the track in practice the last time we went to the track. My dad also painted the car for us last month and we think it looks awesome. The last picture is from May before the car was painted, that is Brandon in the gear donated by you guy's :happy204:

Thanks Again!!!!!!!!!!
