Can anybody recommend a cage builder in the Chicago area? Preferably somebody with experience building cages for BMW's. My budget is < $2500 so Fall Line is out.
I would take my car down to Izzy's, except they are booked up through June!
I'd like to get a cage in before the drivers school in April...
My car is an E36 BMW 325is and I plan on racing it in ITR.
TIA!

You can save money by doing any gutting and paint/tar removal yourself............

Thanks, I already talked to Doug at VFC. He ballparked $3500-$5000 even after explaining that my car is already gutted (no sound deadening material, dash out, etc.) The car was basically legal for ITS with a bolt in cage as of two years ago but I ripped the bolt-in out and sold it so I can get a weld-in cage put in.
I don't need anything fancy, just a strong, sturdy basic 6 point cage plus foot protection. I don't want NASCAR bars either. Just your standard X.
I may need to forgo another season and just tow the darn thing down to St. Louis... :p

I actually had mine done in St. Louis by Joe Dog.
I don't even know his real name, but he built a nice cage for me and a few Southern Illinois Region racers.

If you don't mind a tow to Detroit then I am sure we could take care of you at Skytek. (734) 462 1567

if you don't mind driving to Minnesota I have a guy that usually will go 2500-2800 a cage. He did a bang up job on mine!

Another source for a cage is a fab shop that is into ground up drag cars. IMHJ anyone expecting anything over $2,500.00 including material for a normal 6 point cage with foot protection is telling you thay have all the business at the time that they need. ;)
EDIT: Scott, let me take some of the funny away. Presuming the car is stripped & ready for welding. NOW, stop your darn laughing. :)

Trying contacting Advanced Autosport in Beloit, WI. He works on race cars from GT-1/Trans Am cars to Speck Miatas.
