Hi,

First I want to say thanks to all the input that I received from my last thread about buying a racecar. Now I've narrowed it down to wanting to buy an ITS/ITR E36. An E30 if I can't find an E36 I can afford. From what I can tell it will allow me the widest options of classes to run in (SCCA, NASA, BMWCCA) while driving a car I'm familiar with. I am looking for a complete package (i.e. extras, trailer, etc) or at least a ride cheap enough for me to still afford a trailer. I have been looking on Grassroots, IT Forum, Ebay, Autotrader, racing-junk, sportscar mag, and grassroots mag. I don't want to become a BMWCCA member just look at their up to date classifieds. I want a BMW, but I also want to race this season and may have to widen my options if something doesn't come up in time. It seems like a wasted membership if I end up not geting a Bimmer. Anyway, where are some other places to find racecars? I've googled and wound up with poor sites, cars overseas, or big$$.

Thanks again.

Word of mouth is one of the best ways. Does the BWM racing club have a forum you can join without having to pay a fee? If so, do exactly what you just did here. The other great way is to start attending races and talk with people mentioning what you're looking for. Good luck!

Mr. Black,

Rest assured that your assesment is excellent. The BMWs you have identified are outstanding racers with support that is only rivaled by Mazda.

Go with the E36 - the E30 is done except for NASA or BMWCCA

Membership in the BMWCR forum requires BMW CCA membership and a BMWCR license. There are other BMW related forums to be found.

I have an E36 ITS/ITR and an E30 ITA/ITS (or ITB with the 4 cyl motor) available and posted in the classifieds of this forum.

The BMW CCA Club Racing site's Classifieds section doesn't require a membership to view.

You may need to undo some mods if you want to race in ITS/ITR though. For example, many JP cars have had cams swapped. Some cars may also have adjustable rear control arms, etc.
