My oil pressure switch which triggers the warning light at 15PSI and under may have failed, I need to confirm that. My light does not come on when I flip on the ignition before I start the car like it should. The light used to come on. It stopped working last race and I just re-wired my dash since then, I've even got new warning lights. The connections and light should be good. It's an Autometer pressure switch.

How can I test the sensor to confirm it has failed before I assume it's bad and buy another?

Thanks!

With the motor off: remove the wire (wires) and check with an ohm meter. Should be dead short with no oil pressure. When you start the motor and it sees pressure it should go to open circuit. All you have is a 15 psi switch that is normally closed. Good luck.

Probably could tell by my question my electrical skills are limited. I just ran the test recommended and got no reading with car off or engine on, time for a new switch. Thanks for the help.
