Hey Dave, are you bringing a stack of books? I'd like to get an autographed copy. [/b]

I honesty had not given it any thought. Since I'm not able to sell the SCCA edition copies (only SCCA regions can), maybe the Cincy region would be interested in selling copies at the track and other places Todd? The national office is providing regions a 35% discount. ;)

Thanks for the interest, I look forward to meeting you at the event.

TAC

Dave,

Hmmm. Tricky to sell at the track due to Mid-Ohio's vendor fee's. Bringing merchandise up that's already paid for shouldn't be an issue. Love to set you up with an autograph session.

E-mail me and lets see what we can do about getting something on the cincy web-site. The BoD meets this Tuesday.

Todd,

Jim Morsch could sell them out of his booth, right? You know, he has taken over the Truesports booth in the paddock. I remember getting one of Bert Levy's books there in years past.

db

TAC
06-17-2007, 08:48 AM
It is a possibility. He could purchase them through the region and then sell them. First the region has to purchase them through SCCA corporate? It would be nice to get a rough estimate on how many to purchase. Plus figure a few for cold sales at the track.

So..... if your interested in a copy of Dave Gran's book "Go Ahead Take The Wheel" SCCA version. Let me know I'll make the contacts and bring it to BoD.

You are too kind calling it a paint scheme... I'm thinking the Turbo should help with the speed, but I need to learn to use the brakes and actually make the turns!

I think we get the track after 6 p.m. Thursday. I will confirm that and get back to you.

Update on the PDX,

If you have sent in a reservation fee for the PDX your spot is safe. We plan to have the entry form posted on the www.cincyscca.com website no later than June 28th. I'll let you know when it is posted. There are still slots available in the advanced group if anyone is interested in attending. The PDX will take place on August 9th.

IIRC, the sups say entry to the track starts at 6 PM Friday (or was it 5 PM?). For those not attending the PDX, is that accurate, or is early entry available because "we" already have the track for the PDX?

TAC
06-20-2007, 11:06 PM
O.K. without getting too complicated. Because Cincinnati is renting the track on Friday we have access to the track at 6 p.m. Thursday night. People participating in the PDX will be able to register for the PDX and camp Thursday night. If you rent a garage for the race weekend, AND are running in the PDX you will have access to your garage on Thursday evening.

As for those who are not participating in the PDX Friday but want to come set up on Thursday evening. I have a few questions to ask on my end and will have a response soon.

That sounds like way too much planning. I sent in my entry a couple weeks ago and just started working on my car. And I still have to finish tearing down the race engine, get it back to the machinist, reassemble it, pull the stock engine back out, install the race engine, drop the tank and fix the fuel pump, install the gauges that should have been in there to start with, and hopefully repaint the front of the car.

I hope we get some rain by then so Downing won't see me coming. :023:

Todd, did you ever find out whether those not participating in the PDX can enter the paddock before 6 PM Friday?

TAC
07-06-2007, 04:31 PM
Marty,

Actually if you can enter the track on Thursday night, BUT to do that you must be either a volunteer or a driver in the PDX. You need to contact Kurt ( PDX Chairman) at [email protected] either way . As far as Friday I expect Deborah will open up around 4 p.m. but I need to confirm that. I know she will be helping with the PDX registration on Friday morning.

Keep in mind if you enter the track Thursday evening you still have to come back out to registration on Friday afternoon to register for the weekend.

The Two of us want to come up on Thurs. night to be there first thing Friday... As long as everything is going fine w/ him, we should be available to lend a hand where needed.

I would e-mail Kurt and make sure but it should work just like any other SCCA event. If he is a member of SCCA then you ( at the least) could get in as his guest. Registration for the PDX will be open Thursday evening at 6 pm.

new tires?

i am just hoping that the 5 year old hoosiers might be better than three year old kumhos or the two year old toyos.

but i need to loosen the rear some more so now the debate is between the hoosiers in the front with the kumhos in the back or the kumhos in the front and the toyos in the back. hoosier toyo combo would likely be silly.

i hope to get out of this weekend with just the entry fee and little else in incremental costs.

Dave,

Not to worry, you may give the Waterford Hills guys on the fence more incentive to come now. LOL

This is the average over the last 6 years we have hosted a standard Double Regional 90 minutes of track time per race group (with all other classes included.)

IT7 (not run as separate class)
ITA 22
ITB 21
ITC 7
ITE 16 (Includes TCC)
ITS 23
SM 19
SRF 20

Restricted dbl. regional with 2.5 hours of seat time.
2007

ITA 21
IT7 5
ITB 12
ITC 8
ITE 3
TCC 8
ITS 14
ITR 1
SM 23
SRF 10

Now I know that there are around 50 drivers competing in the Regional Champ Series that haven't signed on yet (they race at Gingerman) this weekend. Plus additional National drivers (they race at Nelson's Ledges this weekend.) Each race group has a 60 car cap. So we can handle 300 cars.

I herd a rumor that my father registered for ITS... the race is now on between the "Blethens" nevermind ITS/ITB :)

would be a benefit to all if we had some kind of organized track walk Friday evening before dark? ... Let me know what you think.
[/b]

That would be great.

Oh, yeah!!! We'll promise to give him a tow down the backstraight if he can keep up through the keyhole! LOL :eclipsee_steering:

Now what kind of attitude is that!?! Surely the Audis are more reliable than the Veedubs??? :bash_1_: :happy204:

Usually we try to pace ourselves to a 2-beer lap; if it takes 3, you're overanalyzing! But with that many people along, maybe we need to stick a keg in a wagon? :D

the keg in a wagon is a great idea... I leave it up to the locals to get something worked out for this!!! $5 to join the walk gets you a cup!!! - I am in

No lie! There was a guy at Mid-Ohio last week at the IRL/ALMS races who was selling - get this - a motorized cooler that you could ride on. It even had an auxiliary cooler/trailer that a second person could ride on!

Tried to talk the crew chief into one but she vetoed that idea!

It's true. I awarded it my official "Kevin's official coolest thing ever!" award. :023:

I've ridden one...
In a way, it's not really as good as any of the things it combines. Low cooler capacity, not especially comfortable, adequate speed, but no wheelies.....and handling? bad, very very bad! And thats NOT something you want to be bad after a beer or three!

But.....it has pretty good range!

Not sure how many chicks you can pick up with it though, LOL.

Probably that, just like we did at Gingerman last weekend. Nice and simple. :023:

Jeff,

I was thinking something along those lines? Maybe a silly little trophy of some kind? There was going to be another Neon coming down, but it looks like the date conflicts.

OK, so it looks like a total of 5 cars so far. Not bad!! 2 Neons, a Charger, a Capri and a Saturn.

Well, at least I can count on a top five in the AMITA Championship!! :eclipsee_steering: Sweeeeeet!

Quick question, can't seem to find it in the supps: what fuel is available at Mid-Ohio, and at what price?

Thanks,

Greg

There are credit card operated gas pumps on site. 93 octane. I'm not sure of the current price, I know Bill Stevens gave me numbers in the $6 range about a month ago. There are gas stations about 3 miles down the road in Lexington.

If I remember correctly, it is:

93 unleaded @ $4.75/gallon

98 leaded @ $7.00/gallon(it may be unleaded, it's "the fuel of NASCAR")

106 leaded @ $7.00/gallon

110 leaded @ $7.00/gallon

This is from memory. I looked at the pumps a couple of weeks ago and suffered sticker shock. I haven't used anything but 87 pump gas since 2000, so I had forgotten.

Hope this helps

Dave

I think Todd has it right.........buy it down the road in Lexington.

Hi everyone,

The fields are getting bigger, you may all want to rethink some of those predictions. 152 entries

IT7 5 ITC 9 ITA 29 GROUP 1 43
ITB 15 ITS 22 GROUP 2 37
SM 38 GROUP 3 38
ITE 6 TCC 12 ITR 0 GROUP 4 18 *Note there are three 'vettes in ITE that may move to TCC
SRF GROUP 5 16

I can hear the engines already.

Holy crap my car actually looks like a car again! (And it drives too!) Now I'm really getting excited and ready to get out to the track! See you all there - we will be having a fire on Friday night. Upper paddock - Shawn and I have a couple extra cases of beer, so feel free to stop by! :)
