GCR lists in ITC:

Honda Civic standard (HB & Sedan)
(88-91)

Would a 1990 Honda Civic LX fall into this catagory?

Thanks.

Come on, guys. I didn't think that this was a stupid question. The GCR does not specify any particular model. Does that mean any model for those years? Thanks.

My read would be no, it would not be classified in ITC. If you look at ITA, you have the Si (at 2250#) and the DX models (at 2000#) for the same year listed. The LX is a trim level higher than the DX with the same powertrain (correct me if I'm wrong).

You can get clarification from Topeka, but I don't think you can make the leap to put it in ITC when the other 2 are listed in A, simply because it's not specifically listed in either.

ITA Civic DX
75.0 x 90.0 (bore and stroke)
1590cc
9.1 comp ratio
14" wheels
3.25/1.89/1.26/.94/.77
242/181 disc/drum
PGM fuel injection

ITC Civic Standard
75.0 x 84.5 (bore and stroke)
1493 cc
9.2 comp ratio
13" wheels
3.25/1.65/1.03/.82
240/180 disc/drum

Which car does the Civic LX better align with?

It's virtually identical to the ITA (that just got moved to ITB) DX. There is a 22 stock hp difference in the STD and the LX/DX.

To be an ITC Civic, it would have to have the 1490cc engine and the 4-speed transmission. Only one Civic came in that configuration - the "Civic H/B". I don't know why it even says "H/B and Sedan" because a Sedan never existed with that engine or the four speed, let alone both.

The LX had the same drivetrain as the DX, but a different body. But if the ITB Civic classification expressly says "DX" only, than I'd say the LX isn't currently classified. Either petition to get it added to the DX's spec line, or probably a better solution, don't race a four door Civic. It's not like the DX hatch's are hard to find. :P

In answer to the original question...No.

"Honda Civic standard (HB & Sedan) (88-91)"

If "standard" is a term of art in Hondaland then it means what it means. I.e. if there is a model that is officially or generally known as the "standard" model then that's the one, and that's the only one, it means. However, as Kevin points out, if that "standard" model only came in HB, the inclusion of "& Sedan" does make you wonder. Sometimes the addition of "clarifying" words do just the opposite.

Thanks, a bunch guys. My bad, I didn't see the entry in ITA for the DX. Guess if my friend wants to race one, we'll have to request a classification.
