I found an amazing deal on this size victoracer 700's and was hoping for some input. I know that they are not the ideal size, but would they be good enough? Thanks in advance, Jimmy

i would say they would be good on a longer/ faster track. I always ran 205/55/15 on my MK1. For the MK3 we are running 205/50/15's

Interesting. We aren't going to too many long tracks but that is good to know. Anyone else have an opinion? Has anyone run on them? (by the way, it is an mk2, sorry)

Great for the rears, but I would stick with the 205's up front.

Like I do for my GP Wabbit. I run the (Hoosier or Goodyear) 20x8x13 slick up front, and the Avon 20x7x13 slick in the rear, both on 13x6 rims.

I was thinking of running them on the rear also. Maybe qualify with the 205's up front and then use the 185's for the race. I will see how much different they are when we start racing. We are hoping to get the 185/60/14's for really cheap, so that is why we were going to use them. It does wonders for our tire budget. B)

On my A1, I used to use a 225/50 (or was it a 55?).....Yes, it will fit but your tire guy will hate you!!

Standard far for VW 14's are 205/55/14, thats what I run right now on the golf. You can fit 225/50/14 on the car too (its fun to watch those 225's being mounted on 14x6 rims) but only if you have the correct offset so you dont rub on the coilover.

The last two post don't really answer my question. I know what is the ideal tire to run, but how much (if at all) will running the 185/60/14's hurt my times.

Buy the 185s unshaved and use them in the rear w/205s and they'll work great-better than 4x205s
AND they make a great set (4x185s) of intermediates. And-think of all the money you'll save. phil

Thank you for your response phil. I am hopefully able to get these and I will do some testing (Black Hawk Farms in Illinois) on April 21-22. Jimmy

I use the Spec racer 185/60/13 for schools and rain. They were faster at Pocono and Daytona, than the 205 /60/13s. Most of the time they are 2-3sec slower than the bigger tires, like at Watkins Glen.
FWIW the 205s set a lap record at Sebring. 244.3 or so, the 185s went about 2:48.
The car needs a different setup and the overall IPR( or inches per revolution) is a lot less, along with the rubber drag. Top speed is alot higher, 6-10 mph in a A1 Rocco, thus the results at Pocono and Daytona. We could pretty much hang onto a draft of a faster group.
The 185 will not last very long at racing speeds or if overdriven. The Victo racers will get very greasy if slid, at all. If they are 40 or 50 $ and you have 2 schools to do , than they will be a good deal, IMHO. You will get passed inthe turns, from the center out.
FWIW the car was/is fastest on very light 205 /55/13s than the any 14in tires.
185/60/14 = Miata

Mistake,, Your IPR will be big, withthe 185/60/14 tires. My IPR withthe 13s was smaller and could compete withe the larger tires due to overall gear and less drag.
