ITS: 6

ITB: 3
ITC: 1

ITA leads SM, SSM and SRF right now! Come on the rest of you!!!!!!!

Only 3 for ITB?? I guess it's a dead class.....might as well get rid of it.......Those guys can't drive anyhow.........

Bring it on!! :bash_1_:

I swear these two guys are gonna simply ASPLODE before the first race weekend of the year...then, if by some act of God they make it through the next 2 weeks, they'll run into each other in the first session...

My tranny is done - can't wait to get up to NHIS. Just need to assemble the bits and pieces. I want a top three overall in the big bore race. Looks like Branscomb will race SPO - if I remember right he's got a sick GT1 Mustang?

The Fiero is getting close too - figure it'll come out in the summer to play. Motor dynoed well - needs some tune magic for the last extra ponies - all I can say is it pulls monster torque - hp was good but not where I want it yet. Lots more little spherical bits going into that car.

Don't they usually only have three cars??? :P

LOL! Touche Jeff! Nah, overall there are usually a couple dozen in big bore or what I affectionately call Alphabet Soup. Looks kinda light for the Opener - 9 cars in group 4.

Yes, ITA beckons. The thrill of the big bore car is huge but the competition is in A. We'll see how the budget handles 2 cars. It'll be interesting to drive a low powered car again - they say once you get used to the power there is no turning back.

The track neighbors (public) is strict, so NHIS is very strict with SCCA, thus to be a good "customer" the SCCA Stewards are very very strict and proactive.

I can personally vouch that they are strict. I have to run my "quiet' exhaust there, and if it rains, I have to run my "super quiet" exhaust.

My car is pretty loud as well but as long as you have an exhaust that points toward the drivers side, you should be ok. Sound is to drivers right exiting turn 10 under full throttle. Design a little slip-on that can be pointed down and away from the station. I bring one to every track just in case.

You coming to opening day?

I am not sure why (maybe 1 day regional at NHIS is the reason?), but the ITB field is usually low at the first event of NHIS... Don't fear that you wont have good car counts after this race :)

Andy why are you not listing the new brother/sister ITR cars, they are part of the IT family now right!!!

I have adapted the current 'exhaust to have' in SM to my header...it makes good power but we will be doing some exhaust development later this year.

Plenty of camping and campers with fires to keep you warm and entertained at night right in the infield padock (Not at the garages)... Also plenty of electricity but I think you pay $10.00 a day to hook up to it.

How much snow is up there right now?
[/b]

I talked with the track yesterday (April 9), in regards to Thursday's test day. I received this:

"I plan to run open test on Thursday unless we get snow on Thursday. It should be rain if anything. Track is ready by this afternoon."

Now, that tells me the track is ready. COM is suppose to be there today, I think. However, the local weather guys are now talking about some decent snow for Thursday (April 12), which is the scheduled test day this week. I wouldn't count on that happening. Not sure how much snow will be at the track, but I would guess enough to make testing kind of suck.

None of this means anything for the Regional, though. That is still far enough away that we don't have a clue as to what the weather will be like.

Anybody know what kind of credentials are needed for crew in the hot pits during the test days?

almracing
04-10-2007, 04:24 PM
Regular NHIS test days there are no credentials required. I am not sure if a SCCA sponsored test day has restrictions.

I was shooting to do the test day this Thursday. But I don't think snow driving skills will help with the set-up of the car. :snow_cool:

Yeap. ITB/ITS/ITR group 5.

It's a tough call. Small tracks (1.5 miles for NHIS and LRP) and full fields. Most of the bigger tracks I see across the country can run all of IT together (bigger tracks and smaller fields) On an average weekend up here, that would be 65+ cars for 38 slots...this weekend is traditionally 'light' as it's the first race after the deep freeze and it's only a single...plus May is a 3 race-weekend month.

The theory of the ITS/ITB and the old ITA/ITC is to keep like cars on track together but ones with enough speed differential to keep them out of each others hair on such small tracks. You can't lap the slower class more than once (if that) on such small tracks (talking leaders vs. leaders)

JamesB
04-11-2007, 03:06 PM
I guess that makes sense. WDCR has just a strong enough IT turn out that its actually a problem finding the correct grouping. Last year it was ITS with big bore, ITA/ITB, ITC with SRX7 and the ITA/B/7 group was at the 50 max registered nearly every weekend. So for this year its ITR/S/A, ITB/C, and IT7/SRX7/SS. It should be interesting for me since I am not used to us being the faster class on the track. I just hope I can only hope I can find some of that time on the track or ill be in the midst of the ITC leaders race given my lap times from last year.

I remember them very well! Now that I have a small air compressor, I've moved up in the world and actually use inexpensive automotive paint. Wahoo. I'm even thinking of being crazy and using auto paint for the inside of the car instead of Krylon. This week I went to Walmart and bought a few air moving fans (had to clarify that for Jake in case he thought the meeter / greeter could be bought to cheer him on at the track) and am making a contraption using dryer hose. Should be interesting.

So, Dave, what color (s) will YOUR car be this year? [/b]

I thought about using different colors but received a lot of grief about it from various people. Looks like it will be yellow again - which ever shade isn't too expensive for the paint. The brighter the better though.

I know - 3 cars doesn't do it for me. I figure it's for the overall but even that's not really sporting. I have to get that cage in and give ITA a run. Still - what's the deal - nobody from "S" seems willing to step up with a prediction?!
