So this was spawned by the earlier thread topic "how much to get started, really" and I began looking around for cars already built, etc. And besides searching the classifieds on here (first place to go really) I satrted to think about going about searching webpages but going through each one that might have something for sale netted alot of time used up. but i did find one thing...

www.craigshelper.com

you put in your search term and tell it what states to look at and it searches EVERY CRAIGSLIST out there! amazing. (upon further review i hear Craig frowns on this sort of practice.......) so i was able to put in my terms and in 10-15 minutes having looked through every list in every state for "SCCA" related cars/trucks (my search term i used this morning). now the results were mixed and there were some cars ready to go but others would make VERY good candidates...like possibly a 91 Prelude Si in cleveland in dry storage for $750 with a possible spun bearing...(good thing honda engines are all over the place for sale too...probably on craigslist.) or some projects that were started but abandoned and need to be moved...like a MB 190e shell or a 924 ITB project for $1200. it depends on what your looking for but in this case.....were looking for an entry level car right? somethign that you can put gas in and go? well lets search again for a car trailer on craigslist and then pick that up on the way to one of these 3 cars i found.

(2002 ITB in denver) http://denver.craigslist.org/car/262290061.html
(vw gti ITB in houston) http://houston.craigslist.org/car/262519961.html
(rx-7 in california) http://inlandempire.craigslist.org/car/260838828.html

so what do you guys use for your parts/cars searching??

The VW is also on eBay.

Ebay is a good source too.
