Discovered something that I don't think has been discussed yet.
Verbage from the respective rule books of SCCA and NASA as far as window nets are concerned.
Bold added to the parts I found interesting.

SCCA:
9.3.52. WINDOW SAFETY NETSWindow safety nets shall be used on the driver’s side window of all closed cars. All window nets shall meet SFI Specification 27.1., and shall bear an “SFI Spec 27.1., Label” to that effect. (Note: Window nets need not be dated.) The window net shall be equipped with a quick-release device and when released it shall fall down, thus not having to be flipped up on the roof. Nets shall be attached to the roll cage; plastic buckles, cable ties, hose clamps, and elastic cords are not permitted. Holes in the rollcage to accommodate either support rod is unacceptable unless bushed and welded completely. Refer to Figure 7, “Proper Window Net Installation,” for additional information on mounting methods. Closed cockpit sports racers may use arm restraints in lieu of a window net.

NASA:
15.10 Window Nets
Window nets shall be used on the driver’s side window. The net shall be installed with a quick release mechanism at the top front mount so as to allow the window net to fall toward the floor of the vehicle when released. Fasteners must be metal and must be attached to the roll cage, and not the door or body. Drilling holes in the roll cage to mount the window net is strictly prohibited unless properly “bushed” (not recommended). No plastic ties or Bungee (type) cords allowed. The window net must be in very good condition and carry an SFI label indicating a date showing that the net is less than five (5) years old.

Shhhh. Don't let SCCA see that. :bash_1_:

Prior to the "need not be dated" verbiage (earyl 2006) I actually ran that one up the SCCA tech flagpole for clarification. They intentionally added that to clarify it.

Why this and not that, dunno.

yes, let us thank scca for their consideration in this. bmwcca requires dated window nets also. not five years either...must follow sfi timeline just like scca does for harnesses. argh.

there is also a substantial but subtle difference for the belts, bold sections for emphasis.

NASA CCR2007:

10. All belts should meet at least one of the following:
A) SFI Specification 16.1 or 16.5 (for use with HANS only) and shall bear a
dated label of no more than two (2) years old. At least one date label is
required on belt sets.
B) A restraint system meeting FIA spec #8853/1985, 8853/98, or D-###.T/98,
including amendment 1/92 may be used. FIA certified belts have a label that
shows an expiration date. The belts cannot be used past December 31st of
the year shown on the label. At least one date label is required on belt sets.[/b]

SCCA GCR2007"

H. All driver restraint systems shall meet one of the following:
SFI specification 16.1, FIA specification 8853/1985 including
amendment 1/92 or FIA specifications 8853/98 and 8854/98.
1. Restraint systems meeting SFI 16.1 shall bear a dated ‘SFI
Spec 16.1’ label. The certification indicated by this label shall
expire on December 31st of the 2nd year after the date of
manufacture as indicated by the label.[/b]

i have always understood this that since i bought a harness in april 2005, it expires in april 2007 for NASA and 12/31/07 for SCCA.

Also, the driver's right side head restraint net is needed for NASA this year:

15.17.9 Head Restraint – Side Impact
As of July 1st, 2007 it is required that all drivers employ a right-side impact head restraint
system. A seat with a “bolster” to keep the head from moving to the right side in an
impact is acceptable. A side-impact head-net restraint system, such as the Racetech
RTViperRP is also acceptable. Note- all side-impact head-net restraint systems must
have a quick-release mechanism to aid the driver in case of a necessary egress via the
passenger side.[/b]

and if i buy just the belt and remove the other tags to stretch the use for a year with nasa, its not good for scca.

Regarding NASA 15.17.9, since they used "right-hand side impact restraint system" instead of any phrase with the word "net", I think my Isaac covers the requirement. Thoughts?

Wonder if the normal, expected driver's door window net on a right-hand drive vehicle covers the requirement as well....

Well I was planning on buying a new window net as my sfi certification expired on my present window net. Then after reading the rules I see the NO DATE REQUIRED. Does this mean my net is legall or since it has an expired date does it need replaced??

It wraps right around the head bolster and even allows the seat to move for enduros. I was pleasantly surprised that we were able to work out the installation without a huge goat-rope.
