Are My Strut Inserts Shot?

While rebuilding my 1 gen RX-7 it appears my inserts are shot. They are Tokico Illuminas and have about 40 races on them. The left one will not extend out on its own and on compression and rebound the dampening is sporatic. Also, that is the corner that hit the wall first. The right one is not so bad.

Do ya think they're goners? And if so would you please give me your opinions on what I should replace them with. I did not get the chance to use them much so I don't really have a feel for what to look for.

It sounds like it is time to replace them. I do not know of anything else other than the Tokico that will work in stock struts. They are an okay shock as long as you run low spring rates. Last time I checked mazda comp sold them.
