Engine swap

OK turns out I need an engine on my 1993 Probe GT. Anything I need to know before I do it? As long as its a 2.5L V6 which is what the car comes with right?

yes, any car on that spec line can be the source, but read the "assembly" language carefully. Come to think of that, didn't Mazda use that engine in the MX-6 version?? I have one of those cars with the Ford V6, I think.

Yep...the probe IS an MX6 or a newer cougar ....well basically. The probes origional motor actually said Mazda on it.

The Ford Probe and Mazda 626/MX6 share platfoms and power trains, however the late model Mercury Cougars shared the platform/power train of the Ford Contour sedans. While both the Mazda and Ford 2.5 L v-6 engines have similar specs, they are actually totally different engines, sharing no internal parts or electronics.

Really,...the probe GT I have came from the LOT with the mazda motor in it. Says Mazda right on it....the entire 139k mi was the Mazda motor
