Not quite. It's reported to be an Olds 455. :o

The story starts at post #77 here. (http://forums.autosport.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=86460&pagenumber=2) These guys build some weird stuff--fun though.

What I'm curious about is how far forward the engine is, what are they using for a trans?

[/b]I haven't followed the thread that closely, but I believe the engine consumes the rear seating area. It's a vintage GM V8 which puts the distributor at the rear so, based on that photo, I'm guessing they somehow got the crank hooked up to the standard drive line.

The builder mentioned that the 500 ft-lb of torque was unkind to the half shafts. Ya think? :)

I'll bet that he has a serious overheating problem. There's now way there's sufficient airflow going through that rad.

Maybe the transaxle is a Hewland or some adaptation thereof?

I think thats a serous bit of optimism....that thing sits RIGHT in line with the rear wheels, on a narrow car. Could it be from a 60s front driver, like a Toronado? Didn't they have the same engine /trans layout?

Now, what he SHOULDA done, is this:

OK, even though I reduced the pic to a teeny tiny postage stamp, it keeps telling me it's too big...
