do I need to swap final drive?

just wondering, but is everyone in IT running modified final drives? I plan on using 13" 185 60 , and my fd is 4.42 this may help some, but im sure that this is nowhere close to the 4.93 modified FD.

So do I really need one?

Change tire sizes for a much cheaper solution. I use 225/45/60 Hoosiers for my gearing solution. (6" wide rims)

Depending on the track, you may be fine with the standard final drive and 185/60 tires. My ITC CRX Dx has the stock final drive (as far as I know but it may be the SI...) and when running Blackhawk Farms with the 185s the gearing seems pretty good. BFR is pretty tight and twisty. When running the northern RA (Road America) with the same setup, I top out in fourth gear coming into T12 and close to this coming into T5.

My father runs the same tire size and has the 4.9:1 final drive gear and we run similar times at both tracks- he is generally a gear higher than I am for a specific part of the track. When we are running nose to tail, we are pretty even in acceleration.

If you are going to the ARRC, it would probably help but for the most part- optional IMHO.

He got the gear from King Motorsports and the gear ran about a grand plus installation. I believe Houseman also sells the gear for about the same price.

I raced my CRX primarily in the Northeast. I have used both the 4.42 and 4.93 with 185x60, 205x60 and 225x45 - 13 inch Hoosier tires. The 205's (R3S04) seem to work best with the 4.42 and the 185's (R3S04) and 225's (R3S03) like the 4.93 gear. The track we run are NHIS, LRP and Pocono.

Housmann Motorsports makes the 4.93 and I beleive the run about a $1,000.00. Someone post early this year tha King was offering a group discount at around $850.00.

Goes without saying you must have a LSD.

I couldnt find one on king motorsports site, I have a 1st gen crx, I was under the impression that houseman is my only option for that car, at around $1,500
