The next episode in the continuing serial "As The Restrictor Turns": looks like the E36 SIR grew to 29mm and the implementation date moved back to 05/01.

Basic highlights:

E36 gets a 29mm SIR effective 5/1/06

Racey Stacey gets her Probe classified in ITB

The 944 gets an adjustment for one particular variant,

The ballast situation has been addressed, you can now put it anywhere between the footwell angle and the back opening of the door.

And some other weight adjustements or additions of particular years of cars.

"Improved Touring
ITS
1. Effective 5/1/05: BMW 325i/is (2 & 4 door) (92-95), p. 18, change the specs to read as follows: Notes: Trunk mounted fuel cell with no
larger capacity than stock. 29mm SIR required and must comply with GTCS section 17.1.2.F.4.i.10."

And this was at the top of that section
"All changes are effective 4/1/06 unless otherwise noted."

Actually, they were supposed to have it last year! DQ em all! Lol. I guess it was a typo.

I guess we cant move the weight until 1/1/07...

Item 1. Effective 1/1/07: change section 17.1.4.D.9.l to read as follows:
Ballast may be used. All ballast shall be located in the front passenger footwell/seating area, aft of the firewall and any footwell angle, and
forward of the aft-edge of the forward-most passenger-door opening, unless otherwise specified on the vehicles IT specification line OEM front
passenger seat location.

is that a typo or can we move it around now???

I believe full-blown rule changes go to 2007 where-as technical spec changes can be done immediately.

Not even worth the effort to write about it. I just hope that some day we find out the real reason that the E36 cars were so priviledged. Is it the cars, or is it someone looking for yet another way to validate an SIR in Club Racing?

If someone protests weight placement, when we all know it is adjusted in 2007, they should be brought out back and shot. :)

Yippie,

The Z3 is moved to 2600lbs, now if only I'd had the since to get a 1.9'er to race and a 2.8l for the street instead of the other way round.

Same here. Well I wanted (4) 1/2" holes in the front footwell anyway.....

Umm, why is that? People really can't wait a year to move the weight backwards? I've got a lot of extra weight added to my car but waiting one more year to move it back isn't going to kill me or anyone else.

It is a little annoying to have weight added to our cars IMMEDIATELY then change the rule for weight placement for next year :bash_1_:

Dave my comment was a bit sarcastic, but if you are fortunate enough to have not added more weight as of yet, does it make sense to put it up front for this year and then move it further back next year?

My point is that it would seem very silly to protest someone for weight placement when eveyone knows its changing next year.

And it being safety why do we have to wait a year??? Wierd!

Regarding ballast placement, am I reading the Fast track incorrectly? I see the ballast change as a 'Submitted to BoD for approval', not neccesarily approved yet, and possibly for 2007. The "effectve 4/1/06" language is only as a header in the technical section. So why would this be effective along with all the other BoD meeting discussion topics?
Don't get me wrong, I'm all for moving ballast anywhere in the passenger side area, but if the rules say we have to wait unitl 11/06, then everyone should have to wait.
