Sunroof tracks

Well, I'm going to take the plunge and build a BMW for ITA, a 325e. To get started I need to install the roll cage. I have a question about the sunroof tracks. In the BMW there is a sheet metal housing attached to inside of the roof that houses the sunroof tracks. Can I legally remove this so that I can get the roll hoop closer to the actual roof? If you could get the car without a sunroof, then the answer is easy, you can convert the roof to a non sunroof by removing all the sunroof components. Replace the hole with a sheet of appropriate sized metal.

Now if the car was NOT available sans sunroof, then I think the answer is the same, but I have to check the good book.

Basically, the answer is yes, you can remove the sunroof liner and frame.
