Being the bad influence I am I helped to PUSH a co-worker into going IT. We just picked up his 93 Probe GT that he will be building for ITS. I know they are rarer than my Escort GT out on the track, so technical support will be hard to come by. So any help with part numbers & such will be helpful. :023:

I know that Chris Marchand from Ohio has a Probe GT. Is he on here? or if someone here can contact him, I lost his email addy.

Thanks

Buddy,

I may have a free parts car for you guys to take away if you need it. I think it would be a good idea.

You are gonna need some power to run with ITS...

It would cost you almost the same amount to build a Regional RX-7...

Thanks Andy. I'll talk to him (or just send him a link, he's registered here) and I'll let you know.

I tried to talk him into going into ITA, B or C and buying an already built car, but he wants to build his own (silly kids).

Stacey, I'll send Dan the info about your site. Thanks.

So is your friend familiar with the Probe GT? I have one as a daily driver. I didn't even know they were classed in ITS. These cars are notoriously hard to get to make power. A lot of people turbo them, but that's obviously illegal for IT racing. ProbeTalk is one of the better Internet sites for the car and you'll find a lot of info there. Sport Compact Car had one as a project car for a while and you might find the old articles on their web site. They got pretty frustrated with it as they could never get any big power gains. You've got all your usual aftermarket bolt on stuff, but you may have to get a little creative if you want to go beyond that. I haven't heard of any engine builders, but you may find one on ProbeTalk. You'll probably wind up a little down on horsepower, but you can probably make it handle real well. With all the weight adjustments, who knows.

I'd be curious to see how the build goes.

There are a few individuals on the site that have built up engines. As for the Sport Compact article.. They must not have know about my site. Because they didnt make the best out of what was out there for the car. Today theres much more than in the past. The car is an exceptional handling car. There is a KLZE 2.5 version of the engine that makes 220hp on up. Interprep cams and crowler can make cams for the car.

When gutted the car is really really light. I nick-named it the rolling pickup truck.

Best of luck in your build.

The EGTs that are racing: me in Mass, Dave Ford in PA, JProphet in IN, another for sale in Cali. And those are just the 91 EGTs I know of. I know of some 1st gen EGTs (ITB) also as well as an 86 Escort (in ITC).

I have a post on www.feoa.com and here about a race get together at Mid Ohio June 30 - July 2. It's a double regional weekend. I'm trying to get as many EGT's & EXPs together as a group. It'll be more towards the top in a few months.

Thanks Jarace!

Just wondering is that your real name or is it like we would say in Phila "Jaeat?" "nodiju?" :) Please take no offense.

Best Regards,

Dave

PS following this thread - since the Probe is ITS and may not be on the track at the same time as ITA a turbo could still be used and run in ITE
