Hi,

I'm curious to find out if any SCCA members in the southern regions have much experience with the former ASA stock cars. I'm looking at buying an ASA car and the specs are pretty stout for road racing.

2800 lbs
Coil overs
420 HP LT1 motor
4 speed T-10
Quick change rear
fiberglass body
Parts are extremely cheap

I'd like to hear some feedback on what folks know about running a car like this and the liklihood that these cars will become more popular in SCCA.

Cheers,

There are quite a few of these cars running GTA and SPO down here. I thought about it but my budget and driveway could not handle it. So I went the IT7 route.

The fields are not as large as IT but maybe that's a good thing. Sometimes with so many cars it looks more like rush hour on I285 that a race. :o

Maybe Butch Kummer will see this thread and shed some light. He has a ASA car I believe running GTA now after switching from GT1. He can tell you about relative costs.
