Hi everyone.

I just picked up an aluminum flywheel that has been on the shelf for a year. It has a light coating of rust where the clutch and flywheel meet. Do I need to take this to a machine shop or can I clean this up myself with sandpaper? Or is there a better way?

Thanks in advance for any advice!

I assume that the rust is on the steel insert; light sandpaper will do the trick.

Is it for drag racing?

It's for my turbo Miata track car.
