HEARTLAND PARK TO HOST OCTOBER ROAD COURSE TEST WEEKEND ON NEW PAVEMENT

TOPEKA, Kan. (Aug. 5, 2005) - Following the most extensive road course renovation in Heartland Park Topeka history, the facility will host a road course test weekend to allow licensed racers a first look at the freshly-repaved and reconfigured road circuit.

The test weekend is scheduled for Friday through Sunday, Oct. 21-23 and is open to both open and closed-wheel, SCCA legal race cars. All drivers must have a current SCCA competition license to take part in test sessions.

This testing weekend will give both regional and national racers a chance to see the new pavement, and the newly revised turns on Heartland Park's national championship deciding road course. This will include the opportunity to drive on sections that have been long closed due to the deterioration of the pavement prior to the repaving. These newly-reopened sections include the 180-degree, climbing carousel turn which loops around the south end of the drag strip.

"Racers will soon learn that the repaving of Heartland Park Topeka is more than just a fresh layer of asphalt," said Raymond Irwin, Heartland Park Topeka owner and active SCCA racer. "This weekend will give them a chance to re-learn the track, and revisit some great corners that we have not been able to use in years."

The test weekend entry form can be found at www.hpt.com, and all multiple day entries include dinner on Saturday night for drivers and one guest. Open and closed-wheel race cars will be on track each day from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Heartland Park Topeka, a multi-purpose racing facility located in Topeka, Kan. annually hosts NHRA POWERade drag racing, Championship OFF-Road Racing (CORR), and the Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) in addition to many other events throughout the race season.
