Having just crushed two cheapo stands, I am interested in buying new stands. I am tired of cheap three legged stands.

Who uses what and where to buy?

Are aluminum stands recommended? (All my experience is with steel stands.)

Thanks.

Bill. Not sure if this belongs in "bargain shopper" but then again should you be looking for bargain jack stands anyway? I've just got some cool looking aluminium jack stands from my Snap On dealer. Not sure of the price (affraid to ask) But they look good and they have flat bottoms (required at most tracks) Haven't tried them yet. But they sure look cool!

Thanks. I'll look at the Snap on site. I've been searching on the web and haven't found any with the flat bottoms. Appreciate the information.

I have been using the cheapooooo Harbor Freight for several years without problem. HOWEVER, I have welded a flat plate on the bottom, 10ga steel, for use on dirt and to distribute the load (keep them from spreading). Works for me...Chuck
