View Full Version : NACA ducts ?

RacerPartsWholesale sells NACA and ram air ducts for about $15-18 each. Anyone have a cheaper source for these hunks of plastic...mine will get ripped off and I'll need a few sets.

It's been a long time but when last I went shopping, the straight-through ducts could be sourced for less $ than the NACA versions. If they aren't going in a high laminar flow area (e.g., driver window cooling vent) but instead in an airdam, that could save some dinero.

Hey Kirk. I had planned to locate them on the underside of my splitter.

That is an interesting idea. The air flow speed might be higher that way. Are you going to add support to the ducts to keep the flow from pulling off the splitter? Or is the splitter rigid enough?

The splitter is Luan with a few rods to hold up the back. Plenty stiff. But there's no way the splitter would get pulled off by the miniscule NACA duct dynamics...in fact the whole premise of pulling a significant volume of air off the bottom and away from the front of the tires is a bit optimistic.

Air will be traveling to brakes, coolers, and/or a low pressure area at the rear of fender well. Nothing fancy.
