Just getting involved in IT racing and I would like to race a 94 or 95 Mustang 3.8. Is anyone here racing that type of car? I'd like to "Buy American", have a preverence for Ford, and would like a rear wheel drive, so my choices are limited. My interest in racing is purely for pleasure and don't mind finishing in the middle of the pack.

I'm looking for some input if this is a good choice.

Your opionions are greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Hey Dan, your '94-'95 Mustang with the V-6 would be in ITS and therefore not likely to be very competitive in the class. In fact, I can't say I've ever seen one or read about one in an ITS race. Doesn't mean that with good fab skills and some luck that it couldn't be competitive. I think your reasons for racing are the right one's, pleasure and not winning. You've certainly picked the right class, IT, to have fun. I think if you want to race that car, go for it. I'll be happy to help in any way I can, but I've got and Escort GT.

I was the one who requested the classification, but was disappointed with its curb weight of 3100 per the rule book. It does have a lot of torque and power, but I worry that the weight would be difficult to overcome to be a front runner, although it would definitely be a nice project. Also, almost everything sold for the V8 cars suspension-wise is a bolt-on, so fab skills aren't a must, just pockets that go deep enough to buy it all! FWIW, my new IT car is a 93 coupe (Mustang) but I built the chassis for A/S in case I get bored... we'll see.
