The new car is coming together, I've just uploaded a bunch of images to my website. I have 10 days to paint and complete the car for it's first show and race at Savannah, so if you don't see me around here, you'll know where I am! I built the cage to A/S specs, so although it's a little overkill for IT, I have plans for the car's future http://Forums.ImprovedTouring.com/it/smile.gif ...

See the construction by following the link below.

Thanks guys! If you're going to build it, might as well build it right. Let's just hope it's ready in time for the sponsor's show in Tampa, otherwise how the cage looks will be the least of my worries LOL...

yes, that is one robust cage! Will you still be able to make weight? You car will definitely have a stiff chassis when you are done.

I actually started cutting tubes out of my cage when I found out my capri was overweight. I just took out my passenger seat and I'm now 20 pounds underweight -WooHoo. I just read the rules which requres the weights to be installed in the passenger footwell. I'm thinking about reinstalling my seat and reclining it.

Looking forward to hearing how you and the car ultimately perform. Good luck.

Well, the coupe is lighter than the H/B body to begin with, and I did all my normal "lightening" before starting cage construction. Our minimum is 2640 w/driver, so if I'm even at 2700 or so I will be happy. The A/S specs call for 3100, which I feel would require some ballast, or substituting heavier components to make it up to weight. It's at the paint shop right now, I'm supposed to get it back Tuesday, which will allow me 5 days to reassemble it. Yikes!

We'll be just north of the airport at Arthur Machinery, which is off Hillsborough. Head North on Benjamin, take a left on Johns Rd., and they are on the right about 300 feet down the road. We'll be there from 11-7 next Tuesday-Thursday.

Well, if you thought the new car looked good from the inside during assembly, then you'll really love the pictures of the new car sitting on the trailer at the show last week. You can check them out by looking on our website in the picture section. Now if we can only make it go as fast as it looks... http://Forums.ImprovedTouring.com/it/smile.gif
