View Full Version : ARRC weather?

If I remember correctly from past years, it's kind of a roll of the dice on wether it'll rain or not. This is my dilemma - I have no rain tires cause I have no 2nd set of wheels to mount them on. Yes, I ran an entire season in the midwest with no rain tires! So how much of a "no no" is this?

Is there any chance that any of you guys have some 14" wheels you don't need or may be replacing due to the new "up to 15" rule"? I could probably get some tires fairly cheap if someone had some wheels they want to get rid of and could bring them to the ARRC. I really don't care how light they are or of they're only 6" wide.

Please? Anyone?

Kevin,

Better hurry; there's a forcasted 60% chance of rain on Saturday:

http://www.weather.com/activities/other/ot...om=search_10day (http://www.weather.com/activities/other/other/weather/tenday.html?locid=USGA0028&from=search_10day)

I found it amusing that this site offers tips on driving in the rain. No mention of adjusting the brake bias, though. http://Forum.ImprovedTouring.com/it/smile.gif

What a great day, First the Sox win and now rain is in the forcast!!!

Lets get some rain driving tips for Atlanta...

I know up here in the Northeast NHIS does not have a rain line (it is like ice everywhere on the track). But Lime Rock has a distinct Rain line that is exactly opposite the dry line. In the rain; the rain line is a good 4 seconds a lap faster in an ITB car.

What can we expect at Road Atlanta?

Also who's hot in the rain? I know in the rain Scott Carlson seems to go just as fast in the rain with his Volvo as he does in the dry. Is Sam Moore the same, or does the FWD cars end up with an advantage?

I really wouldn't worry about the forecast right now. Most weather people can't get tomorrow right, let alone 10 days from now!

Gotta agree with Bill, Thursday is about when they can give the most acurate data.

Kevin,

I have a set of 14x6s that are a honda offset I will sell you for pretty cheap.

If I can find a picture, I will post a link, but they are like 6 or 8 spoke Borbets, nothing special, but nothing wrong with them either.

Ive been around/racing/working Road Atlanta for about ten years and they don't call it "Rain Atlanta" for nothing. I would never come to Road Atlanta without rain tires...Anyone remember the rain in turn 12 and sun in turn 6...13 car pile up at bottom of twelve about 5 or six years ago? Bring em if you got'em!

Bowie - yes, get me a pic if you can. I'd still be interested in them.

A local buddy of mine, Matt Downing, is going to let me borrow his 14x5.5" Civic HX wheels he uses as rains on his ITS Civic EX (soon to be ITA). They're light as hell and free for me to use so why not? They even have Dirt Stockers on them!

Geez, now if it rains and I get on the box I'll have one more person to thank - haha.

Yea, I probably won't even start looking at weather forecasts until next Tuesday. My car should be totally ready to go tomorrow afternoon!

Kevin, here they are.

http://www.wheelspecs.com/specs/wheelmodels/89

http://neon.atsweb.net/P0BORBET.jpg (of course mine are 4 x 100, not 5 lug as pictured!)

Borbet Type C. The ones I have are 14 x 6, the ones I can find specs on are 15 x 7, and they apparently weigh 16.5 lbs in that size. I am 100% positive they weigh MUCH less than that in the size I have, I would weigh one for you, but they have tires on them.

I haven't the foggiest clue what they are worth... $200? or is that too much? Make an offer, they are holding the street car off the ground right now.
