Bad wreck at Roebling (first lap of course) this weekend as an RX7 tried to win it all in the first turn. Jay Miller's 280z is toasted -- RIP No. 85. Jay is fine but he took a nasty hit.

My car, a silver 260z, got nailed right on the left rear wheel. Sheared the lower control arm in half, and tore up the hub. Bent the Chapman strut in about a 40 degree angle.

A quick inventory this evenig shows I need:

a. Rear control arm (think we might have a spare);

b. Rear Carrera strut;

c. Rear hub.

Half shaft looks ok. ANything I'm missig? best place to source this stuff?

We're trying to get this thing back in shape for VIR in 10 days - if you've got anything that is a match you can sell please let us know, we'd love to get her back on the track.

It is a shame about the race - one rather non-disciplined driver basically destroyed three cars and damaged two more; his own RX7, totalled Jay's 280z, probably destroyed another parties' RX7, moderately damaged a 190E, and did substantial damage to the 260z.

I hope none of us see anymore of that this year.

We have to know the build date of your 260, Jeff/Ron. The early 260 matched the 240 and the late 260 matched the 280.

I *think* the changeover date was 8/74. You can tell by the bumpers if they haven't been swapped. The late cars have big, ugly bumpers, the early ones looked more like 240 bumpers.

Let us know, If I don't have the parts you need, someone here does.

Make sure you check the rear suspension parts on the other side of the car, especially if you are running a rear sway bar. I had to replace many of the parts on the "other" side after a hit on my rear axle.

Hope to see you at VIR. We will be in the red #10 240Z in ITS.

Take care.......Wayne

Thanks guys. I think we found everything we need locally here with the help of Rex Deffenbaugh, local Z racer.

Greg, I'll contact you if we are short anything -- really appreciate the offer.

Ty, it is an early 260z. We checked the VIN number and it is lower than the 8/74 models.

Wayne, we'll see you at VIR it looks like. I'll be in a green TR8; Ron's got the Z that weekend. A bit battered but running.
