Coil over Kit Top of kit

Just got rebuilt struts back. The coil over kit is an A-1 kit. The top spring retainer is a gold slotted cone. It looks like it should have a set screw to draw together but does not appear to have thread to install set screw. HELP???. Thanks T Weaver

Tom, the slot is for cars with a true coil over setup. Ya would pull the pin/bolt that holds the top of the shock & with out removing the rodend of the shock ya can slide the spring perch off sideways, take the spring off & replace. Through the hole ya talk about insert a wire clip if the spring perch would fall off under jacked up loose position. Different folks manufacture open/sloted perchs & closed/no slot perchs.
