I ran 20 deg BTDC the last two years. I think I've regularly heard people say 20 B is correct. The Mazda web site says 20 B, and that it is the factory specification. My 86 FSM says 5 deg ATDC. What's up?
Please help me treat my fresh rebuild kindly http://ITForum.ImprovedTouring.com/smile.gif

Thanks,

Thanks - very helpful. I had already concluded that my FSM was specifying advance at idle, all the other discussion was at full advance. With 5 ATDC at idle, I think it's about 20 BTDC at full advance.
Paul's web site helps me confirm that, and he suggests 26 fully advanced for my 13B.

Now, evidently the 12A has a vacuum pot to adjust the trailing timing. I'm not aware of anything to adjust trailing timing on by '86 FI 13B. Is there something?
