Is it better to leave the port sleeves in or remove them (torque-wise)? Anybody test it both ways?

Thanks,

I think it is pretty well established that on the later engines with the steel sleeves in the port that those have to stay. Didn't that go to a CoA years ago?

Uh, I don't know. Maybe I misunderstood the spec line notes:
"5th and 6th intake port actuators and valves may be removed or disabled".
I assumed the sleeve was the valve.

I also have assumed that the car was better with them than without, but figured it was worth asking.

The 6 port sleves should come out with the vacume activators. Push the brass sleves out of the intake manifold. Seal the holes with JB weld. They only help with torque under 3500 rpm and racing you will never be there anyway. Most times they dont even work because they are so gummed up on street cars.

In the notes section of the spec line for the ITS RX7 86-91, is says:

"5th and 6th intake port actuators and valves may be disabled or removed."

I don't know of anyone who runs them.

Just to confirm that we're on the same page, you're saying to remove the sleeves entirely, rather than to fix them in the open position.

Anybody test this both ways?
