'86 vs. '89 tranny

Other than the transmission mount, the shifter cup and the .697 vs .711 5th gear is there anything different between the 86 and the 89 tranny? Is one less prone to failure?

Don't think so. Had a good talk with Mike at ISC about the trans an his take was tomato/tomato. At least what I took out of the conversation.
