When I bought my 7, the owner told me that it had a race clutch in it. Anyone know what kind of clutch this is? Sure isn't a 4 pucker is it... grrrr

It's not what you build...
it's how you build it

Scott,

I don't know the answer but your question makes me ask one. I have a four puck spare that I got with the car. Is it better than the stock? And if yes, I'm wondering why?

Better? Well, the theory is that it is lighter, with less inertia, etc. Subtle, but it all adds up i guess....

My 4 puck was a tad grabby at the beginning, but seems fine now.

I've clutches from ACT and Spec that have material that "looks" like that. But that ain't much to go on.

Along with the lighter weight, it's my understanding that most popular 4 puck clutches use a much more aggressive friction material which equals (or exceeds) "normal" clutches.

I have a 87' ITS Rotary Performance rx-7 and i believe it has the factory clutch still installed. What kind of clutch can i upgrade to that will be lighter and perform better while still staying within the GCR limits?

Thanks,
Kyle

I thought clutches were free per the GCR you just can't lighten the flywheel for reasons other than balancing.
