Is anybody using a HANS, or has anyone thought about using one?

Bcarter,

Since you are racing in Canada does all your safety equipment have to meet FIA standards? If that is the case then the HANS would be the best solution. If not...

the FIA specs specify that the HANS be used with only a handful of helmets. So you may be looking at two purchases.

I can't help you with the HANS question as I wear the other, better system http://Forums.ImprovedTouring.com/it/wink.gif

and that would be.......?

As for our regs, HANS is entirely suitable, as would be any other. There is no requirement for these devices, I'm just looking into the concept for my personal safety

The ISAAC of course!

They (HANS and ISAAC) are both great devices. The people at ISAAC are wonderful (Hi Greg) to work with. They have been active supporters of this forum with both promo offers and information. The choice was easy for me.

I threw the FIA question out because some organizations (such as the SCCA), leave certain devices optional (such as fuel cells in IT) but if you use them they must meet certain specs. If that was your case, I wanted you to be informed that the HANS is only FIA approved when utilized in conjuction with about 10 deifferent model helmets and I only recall one BELL and No Simpson models on that short list.

I am glad you have enough sense to be looking into purchasing something. With all the options out there, I don't understand why everybody doesn't have something. I almost think that some of us wouldn't wear a helmet if the rules didn't make us.

I use the Isaac.

Awesome manufacturer support. (Gregg Baker rocks)
Innovative design
Very well made
Shock load numbers as good as any other restraint system.
BUT- It doesn't require specific loading to acheive those numbers.
Much better ingress and egress from an enclosed car.
More comfortable driving with beter mobility

But, as it's been said before, something is better than nothing.

Brooke,

Since our marketing department seems to be in full swing here (hi guys), I wasn't going to comment. However, I will assume from your name (sorry if I am wrong) that you are of the female homo sapien persuasion. If so, make sure you try a HANS device before you buy one--they have no money-back policy.

We encourage all racers to try an ISAAC and compare it to a HANS, but especially women drivers. No need to get graphic; let's just say the two products are shaped differently.

Nice website, BTW.

Hey, no offence, and I do feel like a young woman in the morning, but they'll have nothing to do with me, being as how I'm a 59 year old guy.

I am up in Canada, and would be interested in trying this thing out...I will e-mail you directly
