As I was puting the car to sleep for a long winters (Wisconsin) night I noticed that the
right side rear axle lower link is bent. It's a horizontal bent approx 7/16 inch inward about 8 inches in front of the axle mounting point. Has anyone had this situation ? What's the cause ?

Have not taken a look at the watts links/bushings or anything else at this time.

Dave,
I replaced the same lower link before I raced a Watkins Glen last month. It always looked a little funny to me. As a was redoing the suspension, I pulled it off and it was slightly bent in the general location you described. Prior to installing G-Force's suspension parts, the car had a simple unadjustable panhard bar. I have never raced with the watts link. When I contacted Mike Van Steenberg at ISC Racing Services, he seemed to think that someone tried to jack it up there during its days as a street car.

Bill, I appreciate your response. The jacking deal is a potential cause except that the link was straight & I am the only person who jacks the car.

Come-on 1st geners someone else has had to have this bent link.

Yeah. When my 1st car was destroyed which started from a hit to the rear axle http://Forums.ImprovedTouring.com/it/frown.gif

Other possible cause could be from off road or aggricultural racing http://Forums.ImprovedTouring.com/it/wink.gif
