I'm putting together an ITA/CSP 1979 RX7. I'm at the point where it's time to upgrade wheels and tires. I'm currently running 205/60/13 VictoRacer V700's, with an 8.1" section width, on 13x5.5's with 3.5 back spacing, I plan to go to a 215/50/13 Ecsta V700 with an 8.9" section width, which won't fit the 13x5.5's. I'm looking at 13x7's from Diamond and Circle, and it seems like I need 4" back spacing to keep the tires under the fender. Problem is, it looks like the 215/50's might rub the strut, even with the Ground Control IT coil over conversion. Anybody run into this one before?

I ran Diamonds p/n 13070-05-31-04-6-00

13x7 4x100 4.5" backspace mini black spun

I didn't have a problem with running 215/50's. The tire was very close to the strut. The placement of the lower spring perch was the point at which my tire was closest to rubbing anything. 4" would give you an extra .5" clearance.

be careful! My set ended up rubbing the strut, AND nearly the fender! In the end it was very slight and cleared up with the usual methods. If you end up with a little strut interferance, and you cna grind your way out of it, I'd choose that option.

Thanks for the replies. It looks like I'll be using 13x7's with 4" backspacing.

See you at the races!
