Just wondering what would happen if i replaced my stock clutch with an ACT or similar and didn't replace the pressure plate? The pressure plate is still new, what side effects will i encouter using a race disk with a stock pressure plate.

I reused a low miles pressure plate in my car. It had about 2000 miles on it. The disc was still good but I wanted to go with a light weight 4 puck. The spring tension still "felt" good so I said what the hey. I had the clutch apart after 6 weekends or so and everything looked great. Not much wear at all on the disc so I'm assuming it's not slipping. Surely haven't felt it slip. You basically will be looking for good spring tension (I've felt cheap new covers that have less tension than some old ones) and a flat surface. Don't want it glazed either. FWIW I bought a cheapo Exedy RX7 cover from www.performancemotorcars.com (http://www.performancemotorcars.com) for my 323. It feels as strong as what's in my RX7 and was only something like $20-30. I've bought other things from Performance Motorcars too and have always found good prices and VERY good service. Seems their online ordering is down right now though. http://Forums.ImprovedTouring.com/it/frown.gif
