I have been out of SCCA for a while and will be getting back via autocross with a Protege.

As I modify the car I have to choose wheels and I want to stay IT legal for $$ reasons.

The Gen1 Miata wheels look like a good choice but I don't know if the 45mm offset is legal. Anyone know?

Any other reason to exclude these wheels?
Better choice?

Tire size is one of the reasons that I built an EGT rather than Protege. There is David Avard who is racing Protege and you should try to find him. There is Protegetech and EscortGT egroup that you should join. The parts compatibility issues causes you to need to keep up with both groups.
In IT you can run any wheel the size of your stock configuration 14" and 7" wide. Offset is free in IT. I have to run 27mm offset on the EGT in order to clear the strut on EGT but there is limit on how low you can get the body due to fender cut issue; you don't have that problem.
Check into using the ZX2 R struts on your car. Probably the best strut available especially considering the price(under $200 for whole set)
