Any body care to share with me pictures of their window net mounting? I am kinda stumped. I have an autopower bolt-in, in an 83 Rx7. I got a kit from Racer Wholesale, but I think I am going to have to fab new brackets.

Thanks

On our 84, we made a 90 degree bracket that welded to the body right behind the seat, two small brackets that we welded to the top bar of the roll cage and then one bracket was made that we welded onto the door, just behind the handle, but up high on the door (where you'd rest your arm on a street car). The end with the spring goes in that bracket.

Don't know how well that setup works yet as its first race is next weekend.

Thanks, I thought that the window net had to be attached to the Roll Cage, the GCR says this but it also doesn't say it has to be exclusivly attached to the cage http://Forums.ImprovedTouring.com/it/confused.gif. Just came in from the garage, I tack welded the tabs to the top of the cage. The back bottom could use a tab welded to the cage, but the front is probablly 6 inches from the roll cage. I thought I read somewhere about people using seat belt latches, I think this might work, question is can I Bolt it to the cage or do I have to weld it?

Still stumped

Per the SCCA/GCR, no part of the window net may attach to the door. That's not a direct quote, but it'a certainly how I've read it. Besides which, just think about it.

Hm.... didn't really think about that, but the net pops right out when you open the door.... might be time for another reading of the GCR...

Well I got it figured out I think. I mounted two tabs to the top bar of the roll cage, one tab to the main hoop where the top front/rear bar connects, and then I mounted another tab on the lower front/rear bar with a hole large enough for a stock Rx7 seat belt female end mounting bolt. I then welded the male end onto the bottom rod that runs thru the window net. Works pretty good if I have to say so myself.

Is it legal?

sounds legal to me:-)
