Hopefully someone will be able to me out. I'm in the process of getting my RX-7 ready for an enduro at the national event in Daytona. What gear ratio works best around the oval? Is there anything I need to know about the track as far as durability, things on the car that will get overworked. How's the course on brakes? I've learned a couple lessons in the past month's about brakes and inner hub seals. Is there anything else I should look at before hand?

Thanks in advance

What about a 4.09
I've got a chance to get a 4.44 which would be better for the enduro.
I'm pretty sure i dont want the 3.90, although i have one.

Chris, try Mike Cox IT7 #47 CFR. If you would like his phone number e-mail me at [email protected]

If I remember correctly from a conversation with Mike the gear might be taller than one would think. http://Forums.ImprovedTouring.com/it/eek.gif

Have Fun

I've got mike's number. He has the 4.44. but i dont know if its over kill for daytona. I know it would help but i'd rather not back peddel(sp?) the car half way around the oval.
Mike if you reading this whats your opinion?

with a .825 5th gear, a 4.88 rear, and 225/50/13 Hoosiers: 126mph at 7900 rpm. I doubt its going to go much faster than that, but the real question is what tire, 5th gear ratio, and rpm range do you want? If you have one of the 84 or 85 trans with the higher 5th gear, you'll never top it out in 5th. For the 0.7something 5th gears, 4.88's are fine. You'd run out of motor first.

I'm running 215/50/13 Kumho ecsta's. The tranny came with the car, '83. I know the car's got motor. I'm currently staying with guys with 4.88's. they definatly get me out of corners but half way to the next corner I'm with 'em again. If I go to the 4.44 what can i expect to get speed-wise at Daytona.
