I know that Mazda (or more appropriately MAZDASPEED) sells brand spankin' new 1.6L Miata shortblocks through its dealer network. Buy a shortblock, slap your head on it, and go enter the nearest Spec Miata race.

So, does Honda also sell fully assembled shortblocks?

This questions was posed to me by a friend today. I sat there with a stupid look on my face for awhile, thinking about why I'd never asked it before myself, and now I ask you all.

Thanks for the clue, Bob!

I called my dealer this morning... he quoted me $3050 retail for a D16Z6 shortblock. Ug!

Retail....stay away.

Try http://www.hondaautomotiveparts.com/auto/j.../catdisplay.jsp (http://www.hondaautomotiveparts.com/auto/jsp/mws/catdisplay.jsp)

The thing with this is that you are getting everything, even the oil pan and covers so a rebuild would probably be better plus you can do .040" over also. Check with Don Flores at DFE Enterprises 904-378-4480

T,

I think you mean D16A6 and not D16Z6....

All of our CRX engines come from Japan Auto Engines out of Toronto inwhich are low milage JDM engines that are still D16A6's. Prices are around $1K and are a great value.

SMSP-

Thanks for the link. I know the site, but didn't think of it right away.

Racer 025-

I did mean the D16Z6, as found in the '93-95 Civic EX.

Regardless, new blocks are a bit cost prohibitive. I think a semi-fresh used block is all the budget allows for!
