New home of the WCHC: http://www.hondachallenge.com/home.html

...for those who are interested. Some recent rules changes (that will be adopted nationally) are also posted, in addition to a chart of HC vs. IT rules differences.

I am kicking around the idea of building a car for the Honda challenge but i am not sure which model or class to start with. Does anyone have any suggestions? Obviously i am not going to start with an S2000 or NSX. Is there a big preference between a 88-91 civic or CRX si. Any info is appreciated.
thanks,
Chad

I would think (and am, for that matter) about building an IT-spec car. In most cases, they are competitive in ECHC. Now, the balance of power shifts in WCHC and will do the same on the east coast next year, when the new rules go into effect...

Cycleman,
I would suggest that you might want to follow Kirk's lead. He is building a car that can also be used in another series, IT. The new national rules are meant to be IT friendly. While I feel that you will be happy running the HC, it will give you more flexibility. It will also make your car more marketable should you decide to sell it. The Si model seems to be the hot ticket in ITA.

On the other hand, one of the cool things about the HC, is that it provides a place where models that aren't classed or classed where they will be an underdog with SCCA, a place to run. If you have a model that your really like, you can race it. e.g. the car I race would not do very well against the other cars in ITS. It should do fine in HC.

The Midwest Honda Challenge (MWHC) will be using the national Honda Challenge rules for 2003. These are the same rules the WCHC will be using. The only exception is a free DOT tire choice until the August 30-31 BeaveRun event where TOYO will be the spec tire. Here is the 2003 MWHC schedule:

Mid Ohio April 4-6
BeaveRun May 17-18 (MWHC vs. ECHC)
Summit Point June 21-22
Gingerman July 19-20
BeaveRun August 30-31
Nelson Ledges September 13-14
Putnam Park October 11-12

Other non-MWHC points races that may be of interest:

6 hours of Nelson Ledges Aug 8-10
3 Hours of BeaveRun September 13-14

Registration is open for Mid Ohio at www.nasaproracing.com (http://www.nasaproracing.com) . Here are the rules: http://www.hondachallenge.com/honda_challe...lenge_rules.pdf (http://www.hondachallenge.com/honda_challenge_rules.pdf)
We hope to see many of you competing soon!
